Order of the Legacy[edit]
Blood Hunter Subclass
The Order of the Legacy is filled with people who value their bloodlines highly. Unlike stubborn nobles, however, legacy blood hunters, respect their elders and ancestors and hope to do right by them. They do not view their lineage as a source of status above others, but rather as an opportunity to learn and grow from their relatives and use this information to help others and spread good.
- Linked Bloodline
When you join this order at 3rd level, you can use your blood magic to access the spirits of your ancestors. By rolling a hemocraft die and taking that damage, you can communicate with the spirit of one of your ancestors. When you do this, you enter a meditative state and can ask a number of questions equal to the roll of your hemocraft die.
- Strength of the Past
Beginning at 3rd level, you have begun to understand the fighting style of your past ancestors who fought to carry the bloodline to this point. This provides insight and almost a supernatural ability to apply that strength to your combat.
As a bonus action, for 1 hour you gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls on your weapon attacks. This bonus increases by 1 as your class level increases, level 7, level 11, level 15, and level 18 up to +5.
You have a number of uses equal to your Intelligence modifier and regain uses when you finish a short or long rest.
- Ancestry Possession
Upon reaching 7th level, a spirit of your bloodline can possess your body in order to aid you. As a reaction to an oncoming attack or spell effect, a spirit can possess your body to protect you. During said attack or spell, you may choose either a damage type resistance or saving throw advantage and give that to yourself up until the start of your next turn.
You can use this feature once. Beginning at 15th level, you can use your Ancestry Possession feature twice between rests. You regain all expended uses when your finish a short or long rest.
- Brand of the Past
Beginning at 11th level, your Brand of Castigation now allows you to see within your target's bloodlines and past. The following features are added to your Brand of Castigation:
- You learn about direct members of your target's family and their past. You learn whether they are alive or not, what they look like, and you can see the other members' locations just like how the normal Brand of Castigation lets you see the target's location.
- You learn the current target's resistances, vulnerabilities, and immunities.
- Blood Curse of Memories
At 15th level, you gain the ability to access the memories of your opponents. You gain the Blood Curse of Memories for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn't count against the number of blood curses known.
Blood Curse of Memories:
Prerequisite: 15th level, Order of the Legacy
As an action, you may pick any target within 5 feet of you and have them roll a Wisdom saving throw. If the target fails, they are bombarded with the worst memories of their own lives and those of their ancestors. This causes the target to be frightened of you for 1 minute.
Amplify. This effect has a 15-foot radius with you as the center and affects all hostile creatures in that radius.
- Legendary Bloodline
Upon reaching 18th level, while showing your dedication to carrying your bloodline's beliefs and legacy, these ancestors can return the favor by returning through your own blood!
As an action, you may roll 1 hemocraft die and take that damage. You summon a number of spirits equal to the die roll to help fight for you. These spirits share your movement speed, AC, and main weapon of choice. The spirits each move and make an attack roll against the nearest hostile creature, immediately after your turn. If a creature makes a successful attack roll against a spirit, the spirit dies instantly.
When you use your Strength of the Past feature, your spirits gain the bonus as well. You cannot use this feature again until all your summoned spirits have died or been voluntarily dissipated.
