Wizards usually glean there power from study, but some find, in the course of their studies, they find that the knowledge they seek is locked away by some powerful entity. While most would turn back, some travel down darker paths. You are one of those wretched, damned folk. You have treaded fell realms of magic, and survived. Your magic has taken a darker bent, and thus is the most risky, but most beneficial.

Ritualist

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a spell with the ritual tag into your spellbook is halved.

Eldritch Invocations

In your study of occult lore, you have unearthed Eldritch Invocations, fragments of forbidden knowledge that imbue you with an abiding magical ability.

At 2nd level, you gain one eldritch invocations of your choice from the Warlock list of eldritch invocations. When you gain a new Occultist feature, you can replace your invocation with another invocation that you could learn at that level. A level prerequisite in an invocation refers to your Wizard level, not character level.

Book of Shadows

Starting at 6th level, you start to master the dark secrets of occultism and your grimoire becomes a book of shadows. When you gain this feature, choose three cantrips from any class's spell list. While the book is on your person, you can cast those cantrips at will. They are considered wizard spells for you, and they needn't be from the same spell list. They don't count against your number of cantrips known.

If you lose your Book of Shadows, you can perform a 1-hour ritual to transform a grimoire into a book of shadows. This ritual can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous book. Your grimoire turns to ash when you die.

In addition, you can now choose any invocation that has the Pact of the Tome pact boon as a pre-requisite.

Occult Secret

At 10th level, you learn two spells of your choice from the Warlock's spell list. A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Wizard table, or a cantrip. The chosen spells count as Wizard spells for you but don't count against the number of wizard spells you know.

Mystical Arcanum

At 14th level, your occult research grant you a magical secret called an arcanum. Choose one 6th-level spell from the warlock spell list as this arcanum.

You can cast your arcanum spell once without expending a spell slot. You must finish a long rest before you can do so again.
