Occult Hunter Conclave (5e Subclass)
Occult Hunter Conclave[edit]
Occult Hunters are rangers that tap into the eldritch energies that rest in the natural world to enhance their abilities. Some mistake them for common spellslingers, but they're far off with that assumption. Many Eldritch Hunters have spent time studying the Eldritch arts. Most would say they are much more akin to a warlock, though they gain their powers trough the understanding of the dark forces, instead of relying on a pact.
- Bonus Proficiencies
Starting at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill, if you don't have it already.
You also know how to speak, read and write in one of the following languages: abyssal, celestial, deep speech, or infernal.
- Secret Arcana
Starting at 3rd level, you gain deeper arcane knowledge through your research of magical secrets. You gain a spell from the Warlock list, that becomes part of your spell list. You can choose an additional Warlock spell at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th levels. These spells are ranger spells for you, and don't count against the number of ranger spells you have.
In addition, whenever you gain a new spell known, you can choose to learn it from the Warlock or Ranger spell list.
- Versatile Magic
You excel at producing minor magical effects—and at and using them in combat. Starting at 3rd level you gain the following benefits:
- You know one cantrip from the Warlock's list.
- When you finish a short rest, you can replace the warlock cantrips you know with another cantrip from the warlock spell list. This cantrip is considered an Ranger spell for you.
- You learn how to use basic spells in combat. Whenever you cast a cantrip as an Action, you can make a weapon attack using your bonus action.
- Eldritch Invocation
Starting at 7th level, your occult research pay off, and you gain one secret knowledge. You learn an Eldritch Invocation (from the Warlock's class feature), that doesn't require a Prerequisite.
You can replace the chosen invocation whenever you gain a new level in this class.
Whenever an Eldritch Invocation would use your Charisma modifier, you can use your Wisdom modifier instead.
- Mystic Assault
When you reach the 7th level, when you cast a cantrip that require you to make a Weapon Attack as part of the casting, once per turn you can replace one of your attacks made as part of the Attack action to cast the cantrip instead.
- Eldritch Warrior
At 11th level, whenever you are concentrating on a spell, you have advantage on all your saving throws.
In addition, when you fail a saving throw, you can choose to end the spell you are currently active to reroll the save, choosing the new result.
- Mystical Revealing
At 15th level, you uncover a new and deeper arcane secret. You gain access to a Eldritch Invocation that requires a 5th-level warlock as prerequisite or lower.
