Oath of the Prideful Sun (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Oath of the Prideful Sun[edit]
Paladin Subclass
Paladins who follow the Oath of the Prideful Sun draw their power from their own prideful nature, and from the power of the sun. The sun is the greatest symbol of pride in nature, being the center of all things, shining over the world with powerful radiance. Nothing can hide under the sun's watchful eye, no one can stand against his power, or even turn its gaze towards it.
- Tenets of the Prideful Sun
Though the exact words and strictures of the Oath of the Prideful Sun vary, paladins of this oath share these tenets.
Judge the Sinful. Wrongdoers must be punished for their transgressions.
Be Proud of Your Power. Let the world know how powerful you are, behave with pride and shine with glory over everyone.
Protect the Weak. No one is powerful as you. Thus, is your duty to protect your weak allies—everyone who is not you—from unjust harm, even if doing so puts your life at risk.
Unyielding Pride. Never falter in your convictions and exhibit strength that can inspire and lead.
- Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.
Paladin Level | Spells |
---|---|
3rd | guiding bolt, hellish rebuke |
5th | flaming sphere, scorching ray |
9th | Ashardalon's stride, fireball |
13th | fire shield, wall of fire |
17th | dawn, flame strike |
- Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
- Sunlight Embrace. As a bonus action, you can radiate a comforting warmth. Allies within 30 feet of you gain temporary hit points equal to your Paladin level + your Charisma modifier.
- Sunlight's Judgement. As an action, you can unleash a line of radiant energy. Each creature in a 30-foot line must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes radiant damage equal to 2d8 + your Paladin level. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage.
- Aura of the Sunforged
Starting at 7th level, your devotion to the Prideful Sun allows you to forge a protective solar aura around you. This aura enhances the physical capabilities of you and your allies while providing a shield against harm. You and friendly creatures within 10 feet gain a +2 bonus to AC as long as they are in the aura. Additionally, when an ally within this aura makes an attack roll or a saving throw, they can add a bonus equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1) to one attack roll or saving throw. This bonus can be used a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, replenishing after a long rest. At 18th level, the range of this aura extends to 30 feet.
- Beacon of Light
At 15th level, you become a beacon of radiant light. You emit bright light for 60 feet and dim light for an additional 60 feet. Allies in the bright light gain advantage on saving throws and attack rolls, and attack rolls made against them have disadvantage.
- Prideful Sun Apex
At 20th level, you can unleash the full might of the sun's energy, transforming into a beacon of pure solar power. This transformation allows you to dominate the battlefield with radiant energy.
- Solar Embodiment: When you activate this feature, you assume a form made of radiant light for 1 minute. During this time, you radiate bright light for 60 feet, which counts as daylight.
- Radiant Command: Enemies within the light have disadvantage on attack rolls against you and your allies. Additionally, any enemy that starts its turn in the light takes radiant damage equal to your Paladin level.
- Solar Healing: Each ally within the light regains hit points equal to 5 + your Charisma modifier at the start of each of their turns, representing the life-giving power of the sun.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
