Oath of the Mother[edit]
Paladin Subclass
Paladins who swear the Oath of the Mother dedicate themselves to the principles of nurturing, protection, and the preservation of life. They view themselves as guardians and caretakers, drawing strength from their maternal instincts and a deep sense of compassion. These paladins embody the essence of motherhood, extending their love and protection to all beings under their watch.
- Tenets of the Mother
The tenets that guide the Oath of the Mother paladins are:
- Unconditional Love: Show love and compassion to all living creatures, nurturing them as a mother nurtures her children.
- Protection: Shield the weak, defend the innocent, and ensure the safety of those who cannot protect themselves.
- Healing Touch: Use your abilities to mend wounds, alleviate suffering, and bring comfort to those in need.
- Sacrifice: Be willing to sacrifice your own well-being for the sake of others, embodying the selflessness of a mother's love.
- Oath Spells
You gain access to oath spells at the paladin levels listed below. These spells are always prepared, and they don't count against the number of spells you can prepare.
Paladin Level | Spells |
---|---|
3rd | cure wounds, heroism |
5th | lesser restoration, prayer of healing |
9th | beacon of hope, mass healing word |
13th | aura of life, death ward |
17th | greater restoration, resurrection |
- Channel Divinity
When you take this Oath at 3rd level, you can access to two Channel Divinity options.
- Maternal Protection. You can use your Channel Divinity to shield others from harm. As an action, you present your holy symbol and choose a number of creatures within 30 feet of you, up to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one creature). Each chosen creature gains temporary hit points equal to your Paladin level + your Charisma modifier. Additionally, until the end of their next turn, the chosen creatures have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
- Lifes Renewal. As an action, you present your holy symbol and choose a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The chosen creature regains hit points equal to 1d8 + your Charisma modifier. If the creature is below half of its hit point maximum, it instead regains hit points equal to 2d8 + your Charisma modifier.
- Aura of Nurturing
Beginning at 7th level, your presence exudes a comforting aura that brings solace and healing to those around you. At the start of each of your turns, you can choose one friendly creature within the aura of 10-foot radius you exude. That creature gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier. The temporary hit points are lost if the creature leaves the aura, or if you use this feature to grant temporary hit points to another creature.
The aura increases to 30 feet at 18th level.
- Maternal Bond
At 15th level, your bond with those you protect strengthens, extending your care even when they are not within your immediate reach. You can use your Lay on Hands feature as a Bonus Action, and on a creature you are aware of within 60 feet of you, even if they are not in your line of sight.
Additionally, when you use your Lay on Hands feature, you can remove one condition from the target.
- Mother's Embrace
At 20th level, you embody the ultimate embodiment of maternal protection and love. As an action, you can call upon the divine power within you to activate Mother's Embrace. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:
- You and friendly creatures within 30 feet of you have resistance to all damage.
- Whenever you or a friendly creature within the aura takes damage, you can use your reaction to restore hit points to that creature equal to your Charisma modifier + your Paladin level (minimum of 1 hit point).
- You have advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you complete a long rest.
