Norkton (3.5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Norkton[edit]
The night is a scary time, all manner of unusual sounds, familiar objects become shrouded in shadows that alter their outer appearance. Most humans distrust the night and it is little wonder that the night has crept into a lot of human folk lore as somehow evil. The Norkton know better. The night is soothing and peaceful. The night is their true home.
Very rarely (less than once a human generation) a settlement may give birth to a son or daughter that has a very special gift and curse. A strong affinity for the dark and the ability to see through it, coupled by an aversion to bright light and loud noise. Norkton are born to human parents and most go undetected for their whole lives. None know what causes this to occur, although many speculate it could be some form of planetouched factor, Norkton can mate with humans and the children of such a union are perfectly normal humans. They do not even breed true with another Norkton. There is no family that shows any inclination towards such births, in fact written records seldom go back far enough to record a second. There is no way short of divination magic to tell a Norkton from a human physically.
Although it rarely comes up the plural of Norkton is Norkton, much like sheep.
Note[edit]
Norkton, along with Aanan, Gronfrox and Hendyn are known as Inhumans. They are a group of human subraces with varied qualities but a similar background.
Personality[edit]
Born of darkness Norkton are quiet, introvert and often very moody. They tend to prefer the companionship of nocturnal animals to sentient life.
Physical Description[edit]
Identical to humans but with a strong tendency towards pale skin and dark hair.
Relations[edit]
Norkton do not get on well with others. Some have found the more sedate and often elderly halflings to be restful, but on the whole they would be alone.
Alignment[edit]
Despite what you may expect, just as many Norkton are good as are evil.
Lands[edit]
Norkton have no lands of their own. Occasionally a settlement of Inhumans may begin to grow but they tend to stay small.
Religion[edit]
Norkton do not do well in orginized religion, they may however lean towards darker more solemn deites and some have been known to become quite pious in the dark places.
