ACTIONS

Ray of Frost. Ranged Spell Attack: +6 to hit, reach 60 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d8) cold damage, and the target's speeds reduce by 10 ft until the end of the target's next turn. Freezing touch. Melee Spell Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d6) cold damage plus 5 (2d4) psychic damage. Fey Charm. The naiad targets one humanoid or beast that she can see within 30 feet of her. If the target can see the naiad, it must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be magically charmed. The charmed creature regards the naiad as a trusted friend to be heeded and protected. Although the target isn't under the naiad's control, it takes the naiad's requests or actions in the most favorable way it can. Each time the naiad or its allies do anything harmful to the target, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success. Otherwise, the effect lasts 24 hours or until the naiad dies, is on a different plane of existence from the target, or ends the effect as a bonus action. If a target's saving throw is successful, the target is immune to the naiad's Fey Charm for the next 24 hours. The naiad can have no more than one humanoid and up to three beasts charmed at a time.

Naiads are a type of nymphs, a category which also includes Dryads. However, Naiads are created differently than Dryads, because they usually choose to be bound to their spring or river. Because of the freedom of choice, they are less dependent on the body of water they choose to protect, but if the water source is befouled or dried up, their physical form is also destroyed. They are primarily made of water.

Naiad Spellcasting. Naiads are adept spellcasters, but most of their spells are defensive, since these nymphs would rather settle a fight by creating fog around their enemies and retreating or temporarily blinding their foes. This does not mean that they are cowardly, as Naiads rarely even become adventurers, it means that they do not like to harm.

Naiad Interactions. Naiads are innately curious, so they are the type of nymph that most often interacts with humanoids. They often watch sleeping humanoids from bodies of water, but hide within the water when the people awaken. They might approach a handsome humanoid from their body of water, albeit carefully. They are also the most social of nymphs, often gathering in small groups of 5 to 10, or living in larger groups resembling villages or even towns. The leader of the enclave is known as a naiad queen, and she has powerful spellcasting abilities.
