A moonbear has the appearance of a huge polar bear with several large moon spikes on each shoulder. Though a formidable foe, the moonbear is a strong and capable fighter and acts more like a member of the party rather than a pet under the command of its master. To make this beast a companion the player must defeat it in battle. Even if it is a companion, it will still serve its own best interests with or without approval, often disappearing for hours or days to hunt, mate, or even track and battle its biggest adversary, dragons! As big and fearless as a moonbear is, it's intelligent enough to know when it's outmatched or when its presence in a city would cause unwanted attention or strife to the party. |
