Moon Fae (5e Subrace)
From D&D Wiki
Elf Subrace[edit]
While elves are descendants of fey, few can claim lineage from the fae. The fae, unlike the fey of the Feywild, come from a place of just chaotic time rather than a medley of time and seasons. It is known to be a location just as whimsical in colors, if not more so. A particular denizen among the fae is a reclusive sort which is known to steal elven babies and raise them to be fey. Due to prolonged exposure near these shadowy tricksters, the elven adoptees take on some of their traits. Their hair becomes blotched with silvery spots like moonlight, and their eyes become a vibrant violet. These fae are called papylion, and aptly so for a pair of lustrous violet wings they sport. The elven children they steal grow a small nexus of these wings at the small of their back, which can summon forth these same wings when they are in danger.
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1.
Papylion Wings. As a bonus action, you can manifest a pair of butterfly-like wings from your back, granting you a flying speed of 25 feet. Until you reach 5th level, you cannot fly higher than 20 feet with these wings. These wings last for 1 minute before vanishing back inside the papylion's mark on your back. You must spend at least 1 hour of a short or long rest basking in moonlight to regain use of this trait.
Fae Trance. Known to be exceptionally and otherwordly beautiful, moon fae elves mix the best of their two lineages to bolster their appeal. Whenever you roll a Charisma (Performance) check, roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the total ability check.
