The Physiology of the Metuomagnus[edit]


Metuomagnus' are massive hulking demons born of the Nine Hells. These giant minotaur like creatures have the upper torso similar to that of man, but much more muscular, and the legs of a goat, covered in brown fur. Their eyes glow in bright shades of green and their skin ranging in shades of red. Atop their head is a set of massive horns, while their mouths go all along their jaws, teeth sharpened from tearing into the flesh and bone of the damned. Their bodies are muscular and scarred, built and cut up from battling for survival in Hell.

The First Blood[edit]

Through the bloodshed of Hell, the metuomagnus' rose from the flame, slaying any who stood in its path. The devil of Hell admired the sheer strength and ferocity of the metuomagnus' in battle, deeming them as the barons of Hell. They would continue to rip and shred whatever stood before them. Where they went, they would leave nothing but blood, gore, and flame. They would become the fear that drove the demons to never anger the devil, for they would summon these barons, and they would leave nothing but death and destruction behind them. When a group upon the surface began to attempt to summon these beings of such immense strength, they tore a rift in the planes, opening a portal to Hell, that the metuomagnus began to rise through the planar tear. The cult was discovered torn to shreds, and left soaking in their own blood, their corpses scorched and unrecognizable. They roam the material plane to this day, wrecking havoc and leaving death in their wake.

The Hell Titans[edit]

Upon the awakening of the metuomagnus', the titans of Hell rose from their slumber, as the elemental balance of Hell was broken. The titans, seeking to be at the top of the hierarchy of Hell, began to rip and tear through the demon population, until they encountered a metuomagnus. Equal in size and in strength to the titans, lead to a clash of powers. The titans and metuomagnus' fought for centuries, until they were killed off by the metuomagnus, using the bones of the titans as armor, giving them just the slightest bit more resilience than the titans. The last titan of Hell was made into an example, being torn in half by the baron lord K'raxiv. These centuries of war were known as the Colossus wars. However... the titans returned after the planar rift was created, as the balance was once again set off in Hell, letting them escape their fiery confines

The Barons of Hell[edit]

Among the societies of the Hell, the metuomagnus is placed just beneath the ranking of devils, landing high on the hierarchy of Hell, and being the barons just under the devil. The demons of the lower levels of the hierarchy fear the metuomagnus for the reason that they kill without reason, and suffer no consequences of the brutality. Among the material planes, they are revered by those who worship the devils of the Nine Hells, hated by those who worship the gods, and feared by the people, seen as creatures of nightmare. May the gods have mercy on someone who stands before one.

Names of the Barons[edit]

The names given to the metuomagnus' are those that would be given to a devil, are of the demonic tongue, and do not specify to a specific gender of metuomagnus. These names include but are not limited to B'rakaar, K'raxiv, Q'irog, M'otar, T'arkos, and I'rox.

Metuomagnus Traits[edit]

A creature who could have only been born of hell.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Constitution increases by 2.
Age. The metuomagnus typically live up to 500 years on the material plane, until they are forced to return to the Nine Hells for 2,000 years to regain their energy, so they may roam the material plane once again.
Alignment. A metuomagnus
Size. The metuomagnus' are hulking creatures standing on average 14 to 16 feet tall and weigh over 500 pounds. Your size is Large, and you are affected by the Large PC Variant Rules.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
Devil's Blessing. You can see in both magical and nonmagical darkness up to 120 feet.
Hide of Hell. Your Armor Class cannot be lower than 16. However, you cannot wear traditional sets of armor due to your overall build and sheer size, meaning it must be custom made to fit.
Hands of Hell. Your hands and claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing or bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the standard 1 bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Ram. When you move 25 feet or more in one direction, you can choose to deal 1d8 + Strength bludgeoning damage against whatever creatures are unfortunate to find itself in your path. The creatures affected must make a Constitution saving throw and succeed against your Strength check or take full damage and be knocked prone.
Gore. As a bonus action, you may choose to maul and tear apart a prone target. This does 2d12 + Strength slashing or piercing damage against your victim. You must complete a short rest or long rest before you can take this action again.
Languages. You can speak and read Infernal and Abyssal.

Equipment: The skull helm of a hell titan (provides no advantage to AC), bone garments made of the bones of a hell titan.

Feature: Hell Baron[edit]

You are considered as royalty in Hell, being placed above other the other demons, being just under that of the devil. Among Hell and the material plane, you are revered and or feared for your reputation. Demons will do your bidding in fear that you will punish them for their disobedience,, and those of the material plane will typically quake in fear at even the sight of you, and thus be equally submissive.
