Master of Cuts (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Master of Cuts[edit]
Fighter Archetype
A master of Cuts pledges to follow the way of the sword, carrying and perfecting their use of the swords. Although some take these teachings to their own advantage and slice all their enemies, being seen as a cruel specialty, these techniques have been perfected to give quick and merciful death to the enemy.
- Path of the Blade
When you choose this subclass at level 3 you are dedicated to the use of the sword. You gain the following benefits:
- While wielding a melee weapon without the heavy or two-handed property and not wielding a shield, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
- One sword that lacks the heavy or two-handed property which you are in attunement does not count for the maximum of attunement you can have.
- If you wield only 1 sword and no other weapon or shield, your AC increases by +2.
- Careful Cutting
At 7th level, whenever you perform a critical hit with a weapon attack made using a melee weapon that lacks the heavy or two-handed property, you roll the damage die of the weapon three times, instead of two.
- Devotion to cutting
At 7th level, your movements become graceful and refined. Your attacks with swords that lack the heavy or two-handed property you are wielding ignore resistance to slashing damage and also treat immunity to slashing damage as resistance.
In addition, you gain proficiency on Dexterity saving throws, if you are already proficient add +2 to the Dexterity save.
- High Guard
Starting at 10th level, when you use the Dodge action and while it lasts, if an enemy fails an attack by 5 or more and you have it in range while wielding a melee weapon that lacks the heavy or two-handed property, you can make a free weapon attack which does not add your skill modifier to the damage.
- Refine Technique
At 15th level, while wielding a melee weapon that lacks the heavy or two-handed property and not carrying a shield, your weapon attacks gain a critical hit on a roll of 18-20.
Also, if you wield only 1 sword and no other weapon or shield, when you roll 1 or 2 on the damage dice with that sword, you may reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or a 2.
- Ultimate Sword
When you reach 18th level, your attacks with swords lacking the heavy or two-handed property deal +4 additional damage and if you fail an attack roll with that sword you may reroll it. You can only use this trait once each turn.
