Masked Warrior[edit]

In ancient times, gods would often place power into the masks of warriors fighting in their name. These masks gave the men powers of unbelievable potential, until magic appeared that is. The men who still use these masks today are the Masked Warriors, warriors who use their masks to make their dreams and goals to come true.

Making a Masked Warrior[edit]

A Masked Warrior is a melee fighter that uses his mask to allow him to both deal and take damage while protecting his beliefs. Clinging to his beliefs, he rushes through, his mask helping him achieve his goal. Though a fearful sight in the front lines, a masked warrior can also be an annoying opponent from afar, using his enhanced power to pick off opponents using ranged weapons.

Abilities: Strength is a must for the Masked Warrior who wishes to run into the front lines and protect his own happiness. A high Constitution score allows the Masked Warrior to last longer in battles that time is needed. Charisma is also an important asset to the Masked Warrior, for the stronger the will of the warrior, the more powerful the mask makes him. Though not as often seen, ranged Masked Warriors do exist, and they often invest in a high Dexterity score.

Races: Masked Warriors have been known to belong to any number of races, including many races that are blind.

Alignment: A Masked Warrior follows his own beliefs and his own path, even if it means being by himself. Masked Warriors can be any alignment.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Masked Warrior.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Masked Warriors are proficient with all simple and martial weapons. Masked Warriors are proficient with light armor and medium armor, and all shields except tower shields.

Mask (Ex): At first level, a Masked Warrior is able to use their mask's latent powers. As the Masked Warrior levels up, their mask gets stronger too. The mask binds to the face of the user, making it so the mask is only removable by the wearer willing it to be removed. The mask also allows a blind warrior to see while wearing it. At first level, the mask can only be used by the Masked Warrior for 1d6 minutes per day. Any longer than that, the mask won't give the user its abilities, but can still be worn. Each level after the first increases the amount of time the mask can give abilities per day. At level 20, the mask can give abilities at all times to the Masked Warrior. See the chart for how long the mask can be used.

Bonus Feats: At 1st level, a Masked Warrior gets a bonus combat-oriented feat in addition to the feat that any 1st-level character gets and the bonus feat granted to a human character. The Masked Warrior gains an additional bonus feat at 3rd level and every two Masked Warrior levels thereafter (5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th, and 19th). These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as fighter bonus feats. A Masked Warrior must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums.

Novice Mask: Starting at level 1 the mask begins to release a little of its power to the wearer. While wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior now adds his Charisma modifier to his attack rolls as well as get a +2 bonus to Spot, Listen, and Search checks.

Charisma Bonus: At level 3, while wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior gains a +1 bonus to his Charisma score. The Masked Warrior gains an additional +1 bonus to his Charisma score at 6th level and every three levels thereafter (9th, 12th, 15th, and 18th). The Masked Warrior gains the bonuses even if he is not wearing the mask.

Basic mask: At level 4, while wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior gains another +2 bonus to Spot, Listen, and Search checks, as well as a +2 bonus to Intimidate checks. The mask also grants the wearer an elemental breathe weapon that deals 2d4 damage per Masked Warrior level 15 feet in a cone in front of the user. The breathe weapon allows a Reflex Save. The breathe weapon can only be used 1d6 times a day. The user chooses one of the following elements for the breathe weapon: fire, cold, or lightning

Intermediate Mask: At level 8, while wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior gains another +2 bonus to Spot, Listen, Intimidate, and Search checks. While wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior also now adds his Charisma modifier to his damage rolls.

Advanced Mask: At level 12, while wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior gains another +2 bonus to Spot, Listen, Intimidate, and Search checks. The mask also allows the user to use their breathe weapon 2d6 times a day.

Expert Mask: At level 16, while wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior gains a +4 bonus to Spot, Listen, Intimidate, and Search checks. The mask now makes the users breathe weapon deal 2d8 damage per Masked Warrior level.

Master Mask: At level 20, while wearing the mask, the Masked Warrior now adds his Charisma modifier to all of his skill checks. If a skill already uses the Charisma modifier, it adds the modifier a second time to the result. The Masked Warrior's breathe weapon now increases to 1d12 damage per Masked Warrior level and can be used 3d6 times a day.

Ex-Masked Warrior[edit]

If, at any time, a masked warrior stops believing in a goal or dream, does something against his own beliefs, the mask stops granting the Masked Warrior its power from the class.

If the Masked Warrior ever loses his mask, he cannot gain new levels as masked warrior until finding the mask.

Like a member of any other class, a masked warrior may be a multiclass character, but multiclass masked warriors face a special restriction. A masked warrior who gains a new class or (if already multiclass) raises another class by a level may never again raise his masked warrior level, though he retains all his masked warrior abilities.
