Mantaur[edit]
The Mantaur..... Half man, half OTHER MAN
Physical Description[edit]
By Ewwgin |
The mantaur is a centaur-bodied creature with a human half... and a human other half. Their latter half is a human body as well, with arms and legs. Because human legs are longer than their arms, mantaurs do not have an equal elevation and their front will always dip down. Their hands that are legs are also weaker than their actual legs. Due to their spinal alignment, they also cannot stand upright on their legs and are confined to a rather awkward trot. However, this gives them the advantage when climbing over traditional centaurs with their hooves. Interestingly, mantaurs also have two sets of lungs, two hearts, and two stomachs. These are split between the upper and lower body.
History[edit]
Wizards really should learn to stop trying every single fancy that comes to mind. According to the books recording magical mishaps, the mantaur was originally a curse made by some amateur wizards as an idea to punish prisoners. It was submitted to the council for torture along with exploding eyeballs and forced conjoined Siamese ritual spells. The mantaur idea lost against the "floor is lava" paranoia potion. For the exhibition, some mantaurs had been made as a sort of prototype project to showcase the humiliating form of torture. Like all irresponsible wizards do, these prototypes were released to the wild, expected to be disposed of by wilderness and her savagery. Suffice to say, they didn't die off as intended and now have a strange nudist colony in the woods.
Society[edit]
While they managed to survive, mantaurs are still basically awkward, naked human monstrosities. They depend heavily on communal efforts to avoid predators and maintain food sources. Like humans, mantaurs fashion tools to aid in the fact that they do not have natural weapons. Mantaurs are also nudists because clothing has become little more than a hampering restriction on their bodies due to their strange physical orientation. They also have become a rather disturbing sight for eyes are generally seen as horrible creatures by many humanoids. So, they can't just waltz into town looking for actual fitted clothes.
