Mantasi (5e Race)

Race Description[edit]

Originally from a different plane of existence, the Mantasi journeyed to the material plane seeking a new home after theirs was destroyed in an invasion. They are slow to trust people not from their race or tribe, as badly placed trust lead to their homeworld’s downfall.

Physical Description[edit]

The Mantasi look like a praying mantis that grew to the size of a human and began standing on two legs. They have four arms, two of which end in blade like appendages much like their insectoid relatives. They can use these appendages to make powerful melee attacks against their foes. They are quick on their feet, and can even fly short distances if need be.

History[edit]

The Mantasi were originally from the feywild, but the followers of the queen of the gloaming court tricked them, gained their trust, and, eventually, ransacked their nation. The survivors fled to the material plane, where they settled down in many tribes that are constantly moving across the continent.

Society[edit]

The Mantasi are rarely found outside the tribes that they bond closely with and most only take up a life of adventure if they feel that it is necessary to protect the tribe. However, some may choose this path for other reasons, such as calling to protect the other weak peoples of the land.

Mantasi Names[edit]

Mantasi adopt a wide variety of names, and some get ideas from other races they meet, however, all Mantasi of the same tribe always share a last name.

Male: Jascar, Racodam, Silash, Jourdath.

Female: Jabren, Calass, Jarralta, Salfad.

Tribal: Gazran, Tethardan, Tarraquin.
