Tiefling Subrace[edit]
The hag countess Malagard was once the ruler of the Malbolge, and was the most powerful of night hags rather than a true devil. While she may be dead, broken down into miserable pieces by her usurper Glasya, Malagard's wicked power remains spread out. Tieflings tied to Malagard carry traits of her cruel powers of nightmares and instinctively delight in spreading fear.
Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 1.
Legacy of the Hag Countess. You know the vicious mockery cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the sleep spell once. Once you reach 5th level, you can cast the blindness/deafness spell once. You must finish a long rest to cast one of these spells again with this trait. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).
Night Terrors. You have advantage on saving throws to avoid or end the frightened condition.
