Physical Description[edit]
By Nat |
Maindoeirians are odd humanoids with muscular, ectomorph bodies. Their torso and limbs are human. However, their head is that of a salamander creature. They also sport a flat tail that aids in swimming. The salamander skin varies as the amphibians do, whilst the human parts of the body have human flesh tones.
History[edit]
Maindoeirians are odd creatures recorded to have surfaced from quiet lakes and river beds around the end of the Second Sundering. They supposedly formed as magic repoured into Abeir-Toril and rejuvenated systems of life. However, something got muddled and the local salamanders received a dose of altering magic that made them how they look today. At first, they flooded the local waterways due to their new size and incoherence. For a while, they were regarded as nuisances while they tried to pick up their bearings in the wild. They learned about the wider world from other creatures and societies. Eventually, they came to live more often on land, though they preferred places near water. They built towns since their former homes were no longer hospitable to their new bodies and joined life out of the mud.
Society[edit]
Maindoeirian reputation amongst other races is rather poor because they are viewed as know-nothings or bumpkins. They do not have great motivations and tend to like recess rather than work. Maindoeirian children particularly like playing games of stoplight, where players freeze in place to stay in the game. They typically get along well with other amphibian races like frogfolk. Their towns are rather quaint and minimalistic, and often very quiet at noon, as that is when the sun is at its highest. Maindoeirians require steady supplies of water or they will dry out, a vestigial effect from their days as common water dwellers.
Maindoeirian Names[edit]
Maindoeirians originally did not know any languages. The first they picked up was Common and so that is what their names are all in. Usually, they end up being just human names.
