Creates a magical circle protecting against elemental outsiders
When casting, the caster must chose an elemental plane; Air, Earth, Fire, or Water. All creatures within the area gain the effectos of a Resist Energy spell based on the chosen element; Electricity for Air, Acid for Earth, Fire for Fire, and Cold for Water. Furthermore, no creature with the appropriate elemental subtype may enter the area. You must overcome a creature’s spell resistance in order to keep it at bay (as in the third function of protection from evil but for elemental subtype instead of alignment subtype creatures)
This spell has an alternative version that you may choose when casting it. This functions in the same way as a Magic Circle against Evil, with the following exceptions:
- A creature will only be trapped if it has the elemental subtype matching that of the magic circle.
- If a creature too large to fit into the spell’s area is the subject of the spell, the spell fails, however, the circle can be made of any size in order to accommodate a larger creature. For each size category increase beyond Large, it takes an additional 10 minutes to prepare the circle.
- If a creature with an Elemental subtype trapped within a cirlce attacks, its target is protected as though by a Resist Energy, with the type determined by the same method as the outward-focused circle.
Material Component: A little powdered silver with which you trace a 3-footdiameter circle on the floor (or ground) around the creature to be warded.
