Prior to the Sermon, magic on the planet Earth was non-existent. However, thanks to the introduction of

- humans are able to "ask for power" by making contract with a celestial. if a celestial deems them worthy, and they are able to contain the power given, they are then able to use magic

- only a small percentage are able to use magic (20ish%). if someone who cant use magic tries to use magic, it will kill them

- When using magic, milky white crystals known as 'Pearlite' are formed on the caster in varying sizes and shapes

- The formation of these crystals is incredibly painful and can eventually lead to the death of the caster if the crystals are not removed
