Pack Tactics. The wolf has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the wolf's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The wolf makes two attacks.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (3d4 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (2d4 + 3) slashing damage.

Pounce. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 20 ft., one creature. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is Large or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC 13). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and the wolf can't pounce another target.

Howl Ranged Weapon Attack: The wolf howls, blowing back creatures 10 feet in every direction.

REACTIONS

Pounce. If a creature within 20 feet of the wolf that it can see hits one of the wolf's allies with a melee attack, the wolf can make one Pounce attack.

The lunar wolf is of an ancient line, as old as dead stars long forgotten. They were hunted into near extinction eons ago. To survive, they disregarded the pack nature and instead became companions to powerful entities. Mages, warriors, kings, and even gods would tame these beasts, bringing them under their protection. This kept the species alive, but only those of them who were deemed strong enough to be useful.
Over time, they evolved into near immortal beings. Nobody can tell whether this from magical experiments, extinction events, or godly interference. There are many millennia of blank history where the masters of these wolves kept their activities shrouded. The bloodlines who managed to tame a lunar wolf began to abuse them at some point, however, causing the wolves to revolt one by one. A united fight was impossible, but some managed to escape into the wilderness.
With the lunar wolves now set free, some roam alone and some form new packs. All are territorial and protective of those they are bonded to. They can be found in vast forests, high up in the mountains, and nesting in underground caves. Records of them are still scarce but no longer missing entirely with guilds being the main proponent on keeping track of them through adventurers' reports.
On extremely rare occurrences, one may still be tamed, but those who try normally end up feeding the pups. Those who manage to tame a lunar wolf are normally looked at warily afterwards. Their history, or lack thereof, is common knowledge and many believe they were used for experiments. When its discovered another is tamed, suspicion arises naturally. Some are even hostile against those that tame them, rooted in a desire to protect the forest and one of its oldest beings.

Variant: Bonded Lunar Wolf

Lunar wolves can be found serving all manner of mortal and immortal masters as guardians and companions. They are incredibly loyal. Bonded lunar wolves have the following trait.
Immortal Spirit. Once tamed, the lunar wolf can be summoned and dismissed by the bonded player. This can only be done when the moon is out and the sun is not. To summon, it takes 1 action. To dismiss, it takes 1 bonus action. You cannot dismiss then summon that same night. Whenever the lunar wolf is summoned, it does so with full health. If summoned into combat, its initiative matches the one who summoned it.
