Lunar Veil (5e Subclass)
Lunar Veil[edit]
<Sorcerer> Subclass
Lunar Veil Sorcery (Sorcerous Origin) Some sorcerers are born beneath a hidden or eclipsed moon, their fate entwined with the strange pull of lunar forces beyond mortal comprehension. These individuals possess an unnatural influence over the mind and spirit, able to mend wounds with whispered words or unravel reason with a glance. Their power is not drawn from arcane study, but from something deeper—an instinctual connection to the tides of fate, dreams, and emotion itself.
A Lunar Veil sorcerer walks the line between healer and manipulator, their presence unsettling even to those they aid. They are the ones who speak truths hidden in dreams, who bend thoughts with soft murmurs, and who stand at the crossroads of mercy and madness.
Flavor Note for DMs[edit]
- Consider adding lunar phases as a subtle environmental effect, empowering or weakening their magic at key moments.
- NPCs might recognize the Sorcerer as "one of the moon-marked", reacting with reverence, fear, or curiosity.
- The subclass’s mind-affecting spells could make them a target for secretive factions, from inquisitors to cultists who seek lunar knowledge.
Flavor Note for Players[edit]
Where Does Your Power Come From? Were you born under a rare celestial event or blessed by a lunar entity? Did a dream, vision, or unknown force awaken your abilities?
How Does Your Magic Manifest? Does your voice soothe, command, or unnerve? Do your spells glow softly like moonlight or ripple with shifting shadows?
Playing the Subclass You control the battlefield with mind-altering magic. You can heal, but your strength is persuasion and enchantment. Others may see you as a guide, a mystery, or something to fear.

Moon’s Boon[edit]
At 1st level, your words carry a strange, soothing power. As a bonus action, you can choose a creature within 30 feet and restore hit points equal to 1d10 + your Charisma modifier.
You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
At 10th level, this healing increases to 2d10 + your Charisma modifier.
Whispers in the Dark[edit]
At 1st-level, you gain telepathy with a range of 60 feet. You can communicate mentally with any creature within range that understands at least one language. The creature can reply telepathically.
Silver Tongue[edit]
At 6th-level, your voice can shape the thoughts of those who hear it. You gain expertise in Persuasion and Deception checks.
Additionally, when you cast a spell that requires a Charisma saving throw and targets a single creature, you can impose disadvantage on the first saving throw they make against it. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), regaining all expended uses on a long rest.
Psychic Backlash[edit]
At 14th-level, your presence alone can unravel the minds of the weak-willed. When a creature within 60 feet fails a Charisma, Wisdom, or Intelligence saving throw, you can use your reaction to force them to take psychic damage equal to your sorcerer level + your Charisma modifier and become stunned until the end of their next turn.
You can use this ability once per long rest, or expend 3 sorcery points to use it again.
Lunar Ascendant[edit]
At 18th-level, you have fully embraced the power of the Veil, gaining the following benefits:
Your telepathy now has unlimited range as long as the target is on the same plane of existence.
You cannot be charmed, frightened, or stunned. Additionally, you gain resistance to psychic damage.
You can cast Mass Suggestion once without expending a spell slot. You regain this ability after a long rest.
