These devils are unnaturally radiant. Normal powers that celestials may use to purge their darkness do not fully work due to their bloodline drawn from fallen angels.

Radiant Devils

Lucifiends take after the radiant Lucifer, the great archdevil himself. They have graceful humanoid bodies, but odd, twisted heads and skin so pale it is corpse-like. Their feet and hands end in claws. One should always look for these signs, as lucifiends will often masquerade as angels to lure people into selling their souls. Looking closely, one would see they are not in fact beautiful at all, but rather ugly and deformed, with halos on their heads and odd rippling scars along their bodies.

Searching For Leftovers

Lucifiends followed after the radiant one's fall. As their souls descended and warped into fiends, the lost radiance of the angel was absorbed into them, making them white and gleaming, different from all the others of fiend kind. While Lucifer was king of the Nine Hells, the lucifiends served his every beck and call, being his most loyal of servants. As a result of their loyalty, they would eventually develop wings of light, permitting them to fly. However, after Lucifer's fall at the hand of Asmodeus' coup, the lucifiends were also destabilized. Their lord's corpse was thrown down and they lost all positions of power. They were ever faithful to the shining one, however, which made them further targets of Asmodeus' reign. The new king enacted laws which oppressed and eventually outright banished the lucifiends to Avernus, where Zariel was to keep an eye on them. The lucifiends kept up their hope for their true king and searched far and wide for the pieces of his corpse which was dismantled and scattered across the lower Hells.

Bound By Light

Lucifiends used to enjoy the best amenities of the Hells, sitting as the right-hand servers of Lucifer himself. They lived in marvelous towers what hung upside down from marble and ivory and watched over the squabbles of the lesser devils and demons. Now, fallen from glory, they eke out livings among the other wretched beings in Avernus under Zariel. Being at the border realm where demons like to try and invade, the lucifiends are often subject to dangerous conditions. They are forbidden from leaving the first level, though many do sneak about in secret. Lucifiends see each other in their race as carriers of Lucifer's light. They hope to one day resurrect him by returning the light he'd lost back to him.

Blind Pride

Lucifiends are very prideful and flamboyant. They like to be witty and use a lot of "bright" puns to show it. As such they are quite shallow and very taken by appearance. They desire to be radiant and brilliant to look at, and so are repulsed by the many ugly fiends which surround them. They are devoted to Lucifer, but do have many short-termed affections as well. Those with wings are regarded higher than those without, though, in the end, they all share the same light.

Lucifiend Names

Lucifiends take names meaning radiance, being obsessed with the concept. However, no one is allowed to call themselves the shining one.

Male: Luxor, Radios, Helio, Apollo, Licht

Female: Luci, Lucile, Lucina, Eos, Lampsia

Lucifiend Traits

Demons of fallen radiance
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Age. Lucifiends are immortal like other demons. They do not age upon being born fully grown and do not die of age.
Alignment. Lucifiends are usually lawful evil, like most devils. They also owe their allegiance to Lucifer.
Size. Lucifiends are a bit taller and more slender than the average human. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Holy Power. You have radiance within yourself, unlike other ugly devils. You are resistant to radiant damage.
Shining. As an action, you can emit a bright light from your body for up to 10 feet, and dim light for another 10 feet after that. You may dispel this light with a bonus action.
Wings of Light. The blessing of Lucifer is still with you. Starting 5th level, you develop glowing wings of pure light, granting you a flying speed of 30 feet.
Angelic Appearance. You appear as a celestial to most people at a glance. A creature can determine your true nature with a successful Wisdom (Insight) contested by your Charisma (Deception) check.
True Nature. Your creature type is fiend instead of humanoid. As such, you are immune to spells like crown of madness or dominate person because they specifically target humanoids.
Languages. You can read, write and speak Common and Infernal.
