Luchador (3.5e Class)
Luchador[edit]
The Luchador is a master grappler and showman. This Charismatic brawler is a master of the ring and hero of the people!
Making a Luchador[edit]
A Luchador is a strength based grappler. Able to remove enemies from the battle with unbreakable clenches and deadly pins, he excels at single target fighting.
Abilities: Strength is a Luchador's greatest stat. Adding modifiers to his grapple checks and dealing more damage with his unarmed strikes is key to making a deadly Rey del anillo de lucha libre (king of the wrestling ring). Second most important would be constitution, due to their vulnerability while grappling to other attackers, followed by Charisma or Dexterity depending on whether you want to play a Showman Luchador or a Deadly Luchador.
Races: Any large race (Minotaur, Half-Ogre and the like) give a natural size bonus to grapple and huge strength bonuses while classes like Half-giants give racial size bonuses only during certain situations. Its best to stay away from any race that is below the Medium size category as it becomes more difficult for you to grapple your opponent and it makes it easier for them to counter-grapple you.
Alignment: Any. Ranging from Chaotic good to Chaotic Evil, Luchadores come in many shapes and sizes but all share a common goal. To become the one true Rey del Ring. It is the Luchador's methods of obtaining such a coveted title that determines his alignment.

Class Features[edit]
The Martial and mystical powers of the legendary Luchador. All of the following are class features of the Luchador.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Luchadores are proficient with cloth and leather armor, fist weapons and unarmed combat.
Combat Performer The Luchador gains a +4 performance boost to AC as long as the Luchador is wearing cloth, leather, or no armor.
Spirit of the Mask: During X number of times per day, A Luchador may activate the spirit of the mask it is wearing (The Spirit of the mask lasts for 5+ the Luchador's Charisma Modifier rounds in combat, or 5+ CHA MOD minutes outside of combat). Doing so activates the innate abilities of every Luchador depending on its alignment. A Good aligned Luchador sees himself as a defender of the people and showman in the ring. A good aligned luchador gains a 1+(the number of maximum daily uses this ability has) luck bonus to AC and Fort Saves as well as a 4+(the number of maximum daily uses this ability has) to perform checks until the end of The Spirit of the Mask's duration. An Evil aligned Luchador wishes to conquer the ring and strike fear into the crowd, feeding off the boos and cries of the people as their favorite Luchador's mask is torn from his face in defeat. An evil aligned Luchador gains a 1+(the number of maximum daily uses this ability has) Bloodlust bonus to Grapple checks and Ref Saves, as well as a 4+(the number of maximum daily uses this ability has) to Intimidate until the end of The Spirit of the Mask's duration. A Neutral aligned Luchador may mix and match the above bonuses, but may only have one combat boost and one skill boost. At Luchador lvl 17, the number of uses per day becomes infinite and the value denoted by "(the number of maximum daily uses this ability has)" is replaced with 10
Spirit of the Mask Points/Day: A Luchador's ability to manifest The Spirit of The Mask is limited by the Spirit of the Mask points he has available. His base daily allotment of Mask Activations is (2) at lvl 1 and he gains another daily use every odd level afterwards. When the Luchador gains class lvl 17, he becomes an incarnation of The Spirit of the Mask and can activate the power of his/her mask at will any number of times per day. The "daily maximum value" for spirit of the mask bonuses becomes 10
Finishing Move After a successful pin, the Luchador performs one of its Signature Finishing Moves. These finishing moves are unique to the Luchador using them and should be tailor made to each Luchador as if they were a calling card, much like their masks. When the Luchador performs its finishing move, it deals unarmed strike damage, plus the appropriate dice modification as denoted on the table above. At lvl 16 the dice enhancement disappears and the move automatically kills or incapacitates the target if the target cannot pass a (DC= Luchador lvl + Strength modifier + Ranks in Performance) Fortitude save.
Las Garras de los Muertos (The Grip of the Dead) After one especially extravagant Dio De Los Muertos celebration, the Luchador was granted a vision by his masked ancestors. In this vision, the Luchador was taught the secret to wrestling even the spirits into submission. The Luchador is now able to grapple spirits, ghosts and creatures considered insubstantial or immune to physical harm.
King of the Ring at lvl 18 The Luchador is truly, The King of the Ring. After facing all challengers and sending them away in maskless shame, the Luchador stands alone at the pinnacle of Lucha. the Luchador gets a +10 fearless bonus to grapple and intimidate/perform (evil alignment=intimidate, good alignment=perform) checks while inside any terrain that resembles a fighting ring. This includes gladiatorial arenas, square areas surrounded by four pillars at the corners, and cages of all varieties. While this bonus applies, the Luchador cannot be feared, mind controlled, or affected by any mental condition that would cause the PC to lose control of any part of the Luchador's actions.
Tag Team at lvl 19 the Luchador has gained a follower that wishes to follow in the foot steps of the Luchador. Should the Luchador accept this new disciple, he will gain a humanoid companion that will study his every move, carry his gear and act as his hype-man when arriving in a new town. The Partner must be the same size or one size smaller than the Luchador and is created as if it were a lvl 10 Luchador with the following additional features. Heal +16 Perform +16 Intimidate +10 Crafting (Leather working) +10
Luchador Legend a Luchador of Class lvl 20 is heralded as the greatest of all time. Having made themself known to the world, possibly by killing a dragon with their signature move, or Pile Driving a tarrasque, the Luchador no longer fears any challenger. The Luchador ignores all size disadvantages when performing grapple checks against creatures and humanoids larger than itself and all creatures and humanoids lose their size bonus to grapple checks against the Luchador.
Unmasked Luchadores[edit]
Luchadores are Luchadors for life, no matter what thier alignment, however, if a Luchador is Un-masked in the ring, he suffers the truest shame. An Un-masked Luchador loses 2 Luchador levels and must not only craft himself a new mask, but must also change his alias for fear of being recognized. The only way to reverse these affects is to find the one that took your Lucha mask and defeat him. Putting your old mask on reverses the level loss and restores honor to your once proud alias.

Campaign Information[edit]
Playing a Luchador[edit]
Religion: Luchadores worship many various deities, however all of them have a universal respect for their ancestors and teachers, especially Instructors of Martial Skills.
Other Classes: Luchadores are generally amiable, getting along especially well with physical classes like Barbarians and Fighters that can spar with them, and Bards that can act as impromptu hype men and bookies.
Combat: Luchadores are single target fighters. Usually picking out the biggest and nastiest looking brute, the Luchador will jump in and subdue the opponent until the rest of the party can deal with him. If the Luchador is fortunate enough to fell his opponent he will rush around the battlefield, crushing any and all who question his Luch skills
Advancement: Barbarians, Monks, and Fighters are all generally good fits for multi-classing. While Bard can stay open as an option if you wish to buff the party while wringing necks and crushing spines.
Luchadores in the World[edit]
