Lord of the Unknown (5e Subclass)
Lord of the Unknown[edit]
Artist: Lordigan Pedro Sena |
Warlock Subclass
You have chosen to make a pact with a totally unknown patron, where perhaps in a dimension very different from yours, there is an entity controlling the power of Unknown. This decision to follow the patron of Unknown, brings you a very chaotic power, be it over reality, over yourself, or even death.
Expanded Spell List[edit]
The lord grants you knowledge of a list of spells when you learn a new spell slot level. The following spells are added to your spells as warlock spells without counting the list of known spells in your warlock table.
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
1st | bane, void burst |
2nd | phantasmal force, see invisibility |
3rd | animate dead, blink |
4th | aetherstorm, phantasmal killer |
5th | bigby's hand, reincarnate |
6th | chain lightning, create undead |
The Collector[edit]
At 1st level, your patron gives you a spiritual talisman to perform your achievements for him. The object has chains and a pyramid-shaped tip, it is a tiny object and it is a spellcasting focus for you. Most creatures do not perceive the talisman, as it appears to be something unknown and worthless. Only those who value and follow the Lord of the Unknown will notice his true abilities. If you lose your talisman, you can spend 10 minutes pleading with your patron to receive a replacement. This plea can also be made during a short or long rest, and destroys any previous talisman. Using the talisman you gain the following benefits:
Whenever you use any method to reduce a creature to 0 hit points (such as an attack from attack action, spell, cantrip, feature, familiars, magical servants, etc.) or when a creature you dealt damage last turn by any previous method is reduced to 0 hit points the following things happen:
- •You gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma + warlock Level. If you already have any temporary hit points, you have to choose between not receiving any temporary hit points or receiving half of the total amount you would normally receive (rounded up).
- •The creature drops 1 small fragment of its soul in that place. After that, you can use an action to concentrate (any other means of concentration will disperse) to trap any soul fragment within 50 feet of your talisman(fragments that do not fit on the talisman at that time, will remain in the same location). You retain the maximum number of fragments in the talisman equal to your Charisma (Minimum 1).
- •When you fully fill your talisman for the first time, you permanently earn a bonus invocation eldritch that have 'Lord of Unknown prerequisite'. When you gain a level in this class you can replace it with another invocation that you could learn at that level.
- *You can use one soul fragment retained in the talisman to cast a spell that you know without expending spell slots as a warlock spell.
- *If not used, every *warlock level* hours, 1 soul fragment instantly will disperse from your talisman.
- *If your talisman is full, no other creatures will drop soul fragments. Dropped soul fragments that are not collected will disperse in 1 hour. It is not possible to recover any dispersed soul fragment and It will return to original soul.
NOTE: Reduce multiple creatures using a single method (such as 1 same attack, 1 same spell, same effect, etc.). Do not release multiple fragments at the same time. Maximum of 1 fragment per turn by the same method.
Example: releasing a fireball and killing several creatures at the same time will create only 1 fragment. But killing a creature with a spell and killing another creature using a familiar on the same turn would guarantee you a total of 2 fragments on the map that turn.
