Warlock Subclass
You have entered into a profound pact with an extraordinary patron, intimately tied to the fundamental laws and origins of magic, as well as the vast expanse of space and the cosmic realm. This formidable entity, largely unknown within the realm, existed eons ago, traversing the fabric of reality and playing a momentous and influential role. However, it inexplicably vanished, leaving behind a void spanning countless years. Yet now, for reasons veiled in mystery, this otherworldly being has resurfaced, extending its reach to you with a purpose that revolves around acquiring the souls of those in its vicinity, though the true nature of this pursuit remains concealed.
Perhaps your patron seeks to unravel the mysteries and wonders of the world, bestowing its vast power upon you in exchange, or maybe it utilizes your being as an instrument to achieve dominion over the very foundations of existence. Whatever unfathomable desire drives your patron, you are resolute in your commitment to fulfill it. Empowered by the mighty forces granted by this ancient entity, you possess the ability to wield some of the most potent spells known, albeit at a price. Moreover, you possess the rare capability to gather and harness the souls of your adversaries, utilizing them as a source of sustenance for your very essence.
Infused with the patron's essence intertwined with cosmic and astral energies, its magic possesses the extraordinary capability to manipulate space and bend the fabric of reality. Through its arcane powers, it can construct ethereal barriers, distort the very essence of space, and forge celestial phenomena such as stars and supernovas, emanating vast and explosive energies.
Expanded Spell List[edit]
The lord grants you knowledge of a list of spells when you learn a new spell slot level. These spells are of astral nature as most of them are related to altering and transforming the space around you, shoot motes of stars engulfed in flame while others alter the very essence of reality to transform an object from one nature to another or even manifest material goods into existence from thin air. The following spells are added to your spells as warlock spells without counting the list of known spells in your warlock table.
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
1st | sleep, magnify gravity |
2nd | phantasmal force, scorching ray |
3rd | melf's minute meteors, blink |
4th | gravity sinkhole, fabricate |
5th | telekinesis, creation |
The Collector[edit]
Talisman of the Unknown (1st-level Feature) At 1st level, your patron grants you a spiritual talisman—an enigmatic, pyramid-tipped charm bound in chains. This tiny object serves as your spellcasting focus, though most creatures perceive it as mundane and worthless. Only those who revere the Lord of the Unknown recognize its true power. If you lose your talisman, you can perform a 10-minute ritual during a short or long rest to receive a new one, destroying the previous talisman.
Harvesting Soul Fragments When you reduce a creature of CR 1/4 or higher to 0 hit points, its essence lingers as a soul fragment. Your talisman can absorb these fragments, provided the creature was not an undead, construct, or magically summoned entity. The number of fragments gained equals the creature’s CR (minimum 1). You can use a bonus action to draw in a soul fragment within 60 feet of your talisman.
Your talisman can hold a maximum number of fragments equal to half your warlock level (rounded down) + half your Charisma modifier (rounded down). Unused fragments vanish after a number of hours equal to half your warlock level, feeding your patron instead. If your talisman is full, additional fragments are immediately consumed by your patron.
Talisman Powers While your talisman holds soul fragments, you can expend one fragment as a bonus action to activate one of the following effects:
- Invigorate. Gain temporary hit points equal to half your warlock level (rounded down) + your Charisma modifier.
- Empower. Add your Charisma modifier to your next damage roll.
- Magical Restoration (6th level). If your talisman is full, you can expend all stored fragments to regain one Pact Magic spell slot, but at one level lower than normal. Each additional use lowers the recovered slot level further, to a minimum of 1st level. This resets after a short or long rest.
Unclaimed soul fragments dissipate after 1 hour. Once lost, they cannot be recovered.
Unknown Boon[edit]
Starting at 6th level, the Unknown advances in your reality and the essence of the bond between you and your patron becomes stronger. The Familiar, Weapon and Tome start to have an aura of your patron around them, imitating the colors of the space and the universe. The effects of your pact boon increases according to the table below. Additionally if your talisman has the maximum number of soul fragments, you gain an additional feature with each.
Boon | Feature |
---|---|
Pact of the Chain: Familiar of the Unknown | You can summon any aberration of CR 1 or lower as your familiar. You can command your familiar to attack without spending any action. Your summon shares your proficiency bonus. Your familiar upgrade to CR 2 at your warlock level 9, CR 3 at level 12, CR 4 at level 16, CR 5 at level 20. Once you use this feature you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest or you expend a soul fragment to gain the ability to cast find familiar in the following way again. Doing such still uses a spell slot unless it is casted as a ritual.
Soul Empowerment: If your talisman is full, your familiar now gets a bonus to its saving throws, attack rolls and its damage rolls equal to your charisma modifier while it is within 30ft of you. You also gain these benefits after using one of your benefits under The Collector, but it lasts until the start of your next turn when used this way. |
Pact of the Blade: Weapon of the Unknown | You may use your charisma modifier for the weapon attack and damage rolls with your pact weapon. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack roll using your pact weapon, you can distort the space between you and the creature. You may spend a soul fragment to force the target of your attack to make a charisma saving through or be teleported to a point you can see within 10ft of the creatures point. You may only use this once per turn.
Soul Empowerment: If your talisman is full, your weapon is completely absorbed by cosmic and magic energies, whenever you take the attack action on your turn you may replace one of those attacks with a cantrip. Additionally your pact weapon is wrapped in cosmic energy counting as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunities and it deals an additional d4 force damage. You also gain these benefits after using one of your benefits under The Collector, but it lasts until the start of your next turn when used this way. |
Pact of the Tome: Tome of the Unknown | Your tome has all of the spells provided from your additional spell list by your patron inscribed on it. Additionally you learn an additional spell from any spell list of your choice. You may cast this spell once at its lowest level and must finish a long rest in order to cast it again unless you expend a spell slot to cast the spell. Additionally when creatures fail their saving throw against your spells you may expend a soul fragment to disposition that creature causing it to be pushed a 10ft in a direction of your choice.
Soul Empowerment: If your talisman is full, your magic becomes very potent. If you are forced to make a constitution saving through to remain concentration on a spell you gain a bonus equal to a d4. If you force a creature to make a saving through using your spell slots, you may use your reaction to give that creature a penalty to its saving through equal to a d4. You also gain these benefits after using one of your benefits under The Collector, but it lasts until the start of your next turn when used this way. |
Unknown Resilience[edit]
At 10th level, your patron gives you a gift for the amount of souls your have provided it with. You gain a bonus to all your saving throws equal to your Charisma modifier. Additionally, any damage received from spells it is reduced by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier.
All Consuming[edit]
Starting at 14th level, the chaotic bond between you and your patron begins to distort the reality for creatures around you while tearing away at their very essence, with you being one of the most loyal servants that has ever entertained him, the Lord makes you an irrecusable offer, attracting more power through your bond.
You gain the power to summon a miniature black hole, an all-consuming void that devours everything in its path.
As an action, you summon a Void Singularity at a point you can see within 60 feet. This singularity is a 10-foot radius sphere of gravitational destruction and lasts for 1 minute. The area is considered difficult terrain for creatures other than you.
At the start of each of your turns while the black hole remains, creatures of your choice within the singularity's radius must make a Strength saving throw against your warlock spell save DC or be pulled 10 feet toward its center. A creature that enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there must also make a Constitution saving throw, taking 6d8 force damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
On the turn you summon the black hole, and as a bonus action on subsequent turns, you can cause the singularity to expand by 5 feet, up to a maximum radius of 20 feet.
If a creature is reduced to 0 hit points inside the singularity, their body is disintegrated, leaving behind only magical items they carried.
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot to use it again.
