Medium monstrosity, chaotic evil
Speak with Insects. The locustkin can communicate with insects as if they shared a language.
Standing Leap. The locustkin's long jump is up to 20 feet and its high jump is up to 10 feet, with or without a running start.
Multiattack. The locustkin makes two attacks: one with its bite, and one with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) slashing damage.
Locustkin are ravenous creatures that resemble humanoid locusts, and like locusts, they gather in swarms with the drive only to consume. They rarely craft objects of value, and have no concept of beauty or kindness. The rulers in locustkin society are those that eat the most, though locustkin often engage in cannibalism, consuming their dead and those weaker than themselves with impunity.
Vile Insects. The locustkin worship an inscrutable deity of hunger whose name — if it even has one — is unknown to humanoids. The locustkin believe that this deity created all insects, and then created them to rule over the other insects.
Wandering Hunger. A locustkin swarm calls a natural cave system or collection of shabby wooden huts home, though their drive to consume means that swarms abandon their settlements when they have exhausted nearby food supplies. Locustkin find languages other than their own hard to speak, thanks to their unusual biology, and few have the patience to study magic, though they view magic as being a gift of their ravenous god.
Crawling Allies. Locustkin encourage locusts and other insects to live near their settlements, then use them to spy on nearby humanoid settlements, while they prepare to raid. When locustkin raid, they devour crops and sentient creatures alike, though they ruthlessly devour anything that seems edible, leaving stone and metal behind before retreating back to the wilderness that they came from. When gigantic swarms of locustkin arise, they threaten not just small villages, but towns and cities, so nobles and rulers often pay adventurers handsomely to nip locustkin threats in the bud.
