Engulf (Ex) | A staggerfog can flow around creatures that fit within its space as a standard action. It cannot make a slam attack during a round in which it engulfs. The staggerfog merely has to move over the opponents, affecting as many as it can cover. Opponents can make attacks of opportunity against the staggerfog, but if they do so they are not entitled to a saving throw. Those who do not attempt attacks of opportunity must succeed on a Reflex saving throw (DC 14) or be engulfed; on a success, they are pushed back or aside (opponent's choice) as the staggerfog moves forward. Engulfed creatures are subject to the full normal effect of the staggerfog's slow and color spray abilities each round on the staggerfog's turn, and are considered to be grappled. |
Slow (Su) | A creature hit by a staggerfog's slam attack or engulfed by it must make a Will save (DC 14) or suffer the following effects for 8 rounds. An affected creature can take either a standard action or a move action on each of its rounds, rather than taking both; they are also unable to take full-round actions. Additionally, they take a -1 penalty to attack rolls, AC, and Reflex saves. Their movement speed is halved, rounded down, as is their maximum jump distance. If the creature becomes a target of the haste spell, the duration of this ability ends immediately. |
Color Spray (Su) | A creature hit by a staggerfog's slam attack or engulfed by it must make a Will save (DC 12) or suffer effects based on their hit dice. If the creature is blind, it automatically succeeds.
A target with 2 hit dice is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. Only living creatures are rendered unconscious. A target with 3 or 4 hit dice is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round. A creature with 5 or more hit dice is is stunned for 1 round. |
A cloud similar in appearance to shimmering, humid air crawls across the ground. Within this cloud are many faint, translucent patches of color which roil slowly around. Points of light shimmer into and out of view as it moves, speckling the colorful waves like many stars in a brilliant nebula.
A staggerfog is a combination of the spells color spray and slow, both of which can be found in the Player's Handbook.
