Limus (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Limus[edit]
“ | There are few beings of the amorphous realm that do not inspire automatic fear. They are the unknown, and they are the other. There are some which bear stunning intelligence to us. And they are going to be the end of us. | ” |
Physical Description[edit]
From Yu-Gi-Oh by Kazuki Takahashi |
Limusi are gelatinous beings. They almost always appear in a humanoid form, capable of wearing armor and clothes like a human. However, their body is more like a clear jelly, usually ranging from silver to bluish in color. The thicker parts of their body where the jelly congeals the most is rather darkish and opaque. The head usually has some semblance of a face inside, made of shadows suspended in the fluid. It is believed their organs are made of the same nigh transparent substance, making them effectively invisible. These organs also freely float due to an open circulation system through their body, making them hard to figure out anatomically. Their arms also change into weapons and tools.
History[edit]
The first sighting is believed to have been around the revival of Mystra post-Spellplague. Sometimes there are odd fluxes of the Weave in the Material Realm. These fluxes sometimes result either in an excess or a dearth of magic in certain locations. When an excess occurs, more often than not, a "bog" forms due to the coagulation of magic in one place. As it agglutinates, it mixes with the environment around it, usually accumulating lots of water, light and other moisture. The end result is a limus. Unlike typical oozes, which are believed to be spawns of Jubilex, limuses are therefore naturally occurring throughout the Material Plane. They are known to roam about the lands near where they are born, with an unnaturally aware sentience beyond that of other oozes.
Society[edit]
Limusi are very reclusive creatures. Sometimes a bog produces multiple limusi when it lingers. These limusi typically will then travel together and share similar behaviors. Limusi are able to speak and have been known to communicate with other beings. They do not settle ever, it seems, and so they have no cities or towns to their name. They wander for whatever reason until their substances eventually wear away into dust and the magic has left them. Thanks to their enhanced abilities, they are sometimes regarded as oozekin or oozefolk.
Limus Names[edit]
Limusi have no gender. They have names usually playing on their jelly nature in Common.
Name: Gleefix, Oozy, Aqua, Malible, Jello, Eelistik
Limus Traits[edit]
Ooze creatures formed from magic
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Intelligence score increases by 1.
Age. The magic sustaining a limus is not eternal. They usually fade away by 30 years time.
Alignment. Limusi are rarely good or evil, seemingly wandering however they please.
Size. Limus vary widely in height and build, from barely 4 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Blindsight. You can perceive your surroundings without relying on sight within a specific radius. You have a blindsight range of 60 feet, but are blind beyond this radius
Malleable Shape. Due to the fluid nature of your form, you can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch without squeezing. You leave behind any items you are carrying, and any equipment which you are proficient with merges into your form until you exit the space.
Anti-Magic Weakness. As your body is a being crafted of magic, you have disadvantage on all saving throws and skill checks while in the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, you must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against the caster's spell save DC or fall unconscious for 1 minute.
Slime Weapon. Limusi bodies are not so malleable that they can take other forms easily. But their body is able to change into weapons. At the end of a long rest, you can change one of your arms into one of the following items: a dagger, sickle or club. As it is a part of your body, it cannot be disarmed or thrown, and it deals magical damage. This weapon arm form lasts for 1 hour or until you use a bonus action to revert it.
Ooze Nature. As a being of ooze, your biological composition is special. You don't require sleep, and by moving across surfaces you can break down otherwise inedible substances to garner nutritional value.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
