A lightning bird is a large black and white hawk-like bird the size of a person, which is said to summon thunder and lightning with its wings and talons. They are vampiric creatures associated with witchcraft, often as the servant or familiar of a witch or witch doctor, which attacks the witch's enemies. They have an insatiable appetite for the blood of sentient creatures, as they find the blood of animals to be somewhat distasteful, though they can survive by drinking only animal blood. |
