Keen Sight and Smell. The lightning bird has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight or smell.

Innate Spellcasting. The lightning bird's spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 13). The lightning bird can innately cast the following spells, requiring no components:

1/day each: call lightning, gust of wind

Multiattack. The lightning bird makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its talons.

Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) piercing damage. If the lightning bird hits a creature it is grappling with this attack, it regains hit points equal to the damage dealt.

Talon. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) slashing damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it is grappled (escape DC 12). Until this grapple ends, the lightning bird can't use its talons on another target.

A lightning bird is a large black and white hawk-like bird the size of a person, which is said to summon thunder and lightning with its wings and talons. They are vampiric creatures associated with witchcraft, often as the servant or familiar of a witch or witch doctor, which attacks the witch's enemies. They have an insatiable appetite for the blood of sentient creatures, as they find the blood of animals to be somewhat distasteful, though they can survive by drinking only animal blood.
