Lightborn[edit]
The lightborn are creatures with positive ions infused in their bodies, making them walking fusion emitters.
Physical Description[edit]
Lightborn are humanoids that have bodies constructed of positively charged ions. Thus, they are very unstable in form, often phasing in and out of view like flickering lights. They are incredibly difficult to look at directly since their entire bodies glow like a sun stick. Their facial features are indistinguishable due to the glow from their body making everything to bright to see contours. The light emanated from them ranges in hues from blue to violet, orange to red, and white to yellow. These colors can fluctuate to express mood. Sometimes, to recharge their ions, they enter a state of near transparency instead, when they look like nebulas and are not too bright to look at. Lightborn are also extremely light due to them being made of solely luminous particles.
History[edit]
Lightborns are made during the events of solar flares passing through the atmosphere. The intense energy from the sun is full of negatively charged ions, which is not totally dispelled by the planets electromagnetic defenses. When the energies pass through living beings, they discharge positive energies. In particular, humanoids discharge an image of themselves in pure positive energy. These are the lightborns. When first made, they are virtually uncomprehending and very faint in existence. After a day or so, they take on their more brilliant form. Their unstable particle make up renders them a short lived existence. However, they live and die like flashes of light, rising and crashing hard. Many have followed the path of heroes, and people in history have worshipped them as beings sent from the heavens like celestials.
Society[edit]
Lightborn are repelled from one another at their brightest due to their forces opposing that of the like. They instead are then drawn to negative forces, both physical and metaphorical. So, they may wander into fields and become lightning rods, absorbing and nullifying the negative charge of plasma. They can also be found in places of despair, like the dawn after the storm, trying to help people in slums or broken communities. Once a year, when their brightness dies down and they assume the form of walking, transparent nebulous creatures, they congregate on misty nights. It is unknown exactly what they do on this rare occasion but they usually engage some kind of crossing, where they join as ethereal bodies and fly over the seas, ascending to the sky. It is believed this is their way of death, returning to cosmic energy.

Lightborn take names that denote luminosity, and surnames of the opposite nature.
Male: Lux, Apollo, Helio, Sol
Female: Luz, Chiara, Raya, Eos
Surnames: Nox, Obscuro, Nacht, Dunkel
Lightborn Traits[edit]
Beings of positive energy
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. Lightborn are created fully mature and do not age further. However, their unstable bodies last only 5 to 10 years at most without external intervention.
Alignment. Lightborn typically favor good alignments. They do not put much stock in tradition an law, but they are always willing to help the innocent.
Size. Lightborn are between 5 and 6 feet. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Brave. The positivity that makes you is unerring. You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
Radiant Spirit. Due to your luminescent body, you emit light. In darkness, you emit a bright light for up to 10 feet, and 10 feet of dim light after that. Because of this beacon, you have disadvantage in Dexterity (Stealth) checks when in darkness. As a bonus action you can dim the luminosity so you only emit dim light in a 10 foot radius. You can use another bonus action to restore the light to its normal brightness.
Positive Light. You are made of light which is so positive that you nullify physical negative energies. You are resistant against radiant and lightning damage.
Solar Teller. As long as you can see the sun, you can deduce the cardinal directions, as well as the accurate time.
Languages. You can speak, read and write Common and Celestial.
