Genasi Subrace[edit]

Most genasi inhabit an Elemental Plane of their element, with fire genasi inhabiting the Elemental Plane of Fire, etc. However, there are two elements, polar opposites of each other, yet so similar, that inhabit every plane: Light and darkness. The light genasi and the darkness genasi are rare compared to genasi of different elements, but they are known to be born in and inhabit every Elemental Plane that exists. These genasi have similar abilities, but each pertains to one specific element of the light-darkness yin-yang duo.

Light genasi have white, light yellow, or pink-gray skin. Their hair can be any color of the light spectrum, but it will always be very light and vibrant. Many have pure white or yellow hair, but rarely, may have a full pale, rainbow-colored gradient on their heads. No matter the color, a light genasi's hair will be spiky and straight, like streaks of light emitting from a star. Their eyes are equally bright, with irises of any color that most humanoids can have, but much bolder. They tend to be tall and thin in build. Light genasi are usually very social and love to help others. However, they struggle to find true acceptance, as they don't belong to a single community or city, and although usually looked on as dependable and trustworthy, are often excluded from inner circles. As such, they tend to be too nosy for their own good.

Darkness genasi have dark grey, purple, or very dark brown skin. Their hair is always black as night, long and silky, like a shadow cast over their head. Their eyes are either a dark cold color or a bright warm one, such as bold orange, indigo, hot pink, dark purple, or bright red irises, with the whites turned from white to light grey. Like light genasi, they are usually quite lanky. If light genasi find it hard to be accepted, then darkness genasi find it almost impossible. Many associate their dark-bending talents with evil, and may act in fear or disgust of them. Few darkness genasi actually embrace this, however, but many serve as thieves or spies, as they are naturally at home in the dark. They tend not to speak very often, and have a knack for sniffing out others' true emotions. The prejudice against them, however, makes them antisocial, and many prefer their own company, even when others do accept them.
