Lava Salamander Ala'i (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Large elemental, chaotic neutral
Saving Throws Constitution +6, Dexterity +7, Charisma +9
Laval Burst. When Ala'i drops below half his hit point maximum, its speed increases to 40 ft.
Heated Body. A creature that touches Ala'i or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 7 (2d6) fire damage.
Heated Weapons. Any metal melee weapon the salamander wields deals an extra 3 (1d6) fire damage on a hit (included in the attack).
Spellcasting. Ala'i is an 11th-level spellcaster. His spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 17, +9 to hit with spell attacks), and it needs only verbal components to cast its spells. It has the following cleric spells prepared:
Tail Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 7 (2d6) fire damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 15). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, Ala'i can automatically hit the target with its tail, and he can't make tail attacks against other targets.
The Ala'i can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Ala'i regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Teleport (Costs 2 actions). Ala'i magically teleports, along with any equipment he is wearing or carrying, up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space he can see.
Cast a Spell (Costs 3 actions): Ala'i casts a spell from his list of prepared Spells, using a spell slot as normal.
Ala'i means "awake" in the tongue of the firenewts. This fearsome salamander is a wise and cunning priest of Kossuth. Upon being trapped in Bezmadan's bowels, he rose to prominence among the other fiery creatures who were stranded from their original home. With his leadership over the salamaders and firenewts, he subjugated the reluctant azers to amass enough force to conquer the depths of the forge in search of materials with which they plan to build a gate back to their home plane. Unlike the typical salamander, Ala'i is not all evil. However, he can be very persuasive with words to get what he wants, and when the chips are down, few methods are beneath him. He can be cordial one moment and suddenly belligerent if he takes offense, making him a deadly foe when insulted.
