Krynn (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Krynn[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
The Krynn are a race of monogendered, horned, dark-skinned giants. They stand typically between 7'6" and 9'0", weighing anywhere from 275 lbs. to 500 lbs. They have eyes like molten metal and skin as hard as iron, which they frequently decorate with "tattoos" made of molten metals that match their eyes. Due to their asexual means of reproduction, a certain sameness can affect the appearance of the Krynn, with some mother-daughter pairs appearing almost identical. The Krynn use three main distinguishing factors to set themselves apart, the three being hair, tattoos, and general adornment. The combination of these things can denote anything from clan to profession to generation.
History[edit]
The Krynn's history begins with their gods, the female representing Veska and the male representing Kitar. For much of early history the two gods coexisted peacefully, creating the race of horned, dark-skinned giants known as the Krynn. As time progressed, however, Veska and Kitar grew tired of the others presence and waged war on one another for an age. Veska emerged victorious, destroying Kitar and all the male Krynn, leaving a monogendered race. For their loyalty, Veska rewarded the remaining Krynn with gifts of longevity and the ability to reproduce asexually, allowing them to essentially decide to begin gestation. And so it has been on the Krynn homeworld of Zela for many generations.
Society[edit]
The life of a Krynn is one of individuality and relative leisure. The majority of the labor and mundane tasks are completed by the Zelosa, a slave race descended from humans brought to Zela by spelljammers in the past. The Krynn themselves are broken up into a caste system with the regular citizens at the bottom and the ruling priesthood at the top. The individual Krynn, in their nigh immortality, typically give themselves over to the perfection of a typical art form or practice, ranging from painting to swordplay to arcane enchantment.

The Krynn typically choose names with historical significance or that are pleasing to the ear. The naming scheme is broken up into caste name, clan name, surname, given name, and then nickname.
