Kreinos[edit]

Kreinos are powerful humanoids, toughened by their harsh climate and built for war. However beneath their sturdy scales is another secret, buried within there flesh. Kreinos are lizard folk, imbued many years ago with stone. Their very body is partially made of it. Kreinos are tough to take down, and even tougher to befriend.

Personality[edit]

Kreinos develop a tough personality to go along with their tough climate. Kreinos tend to be to brunt with things, they never tell a 'white lie' or try to cushion blows. They do not even understand the concept of this and think it foolish.

Kreinos have lived in seclusion for centuries and find bustling cities vary draining. They are usually reclusive and keep to themselves. However when challenged they will show almost a complete opposite of this nature. If you question the authority of a kreinos, then be prepared to face the tooth end of the argument.

Kreinos are very reclusive and never ones to pick fights, however they are very quick to temper with others and are not afraid to take things to blows. For generally this reason most inhabitants of Orion try to avoid them. This works out well, because generally, kreinos try to avoid others.

Kreinos also tend to hold people at a distance. They are stubborn with their arguments and will never back down even when they know they're wrong. They are distrusting and regard a number of races with disdain, partially because the other races feel the same towards them. It is for these and other reasons that kreinos have very few friends.

Physical Description[edit]

A kreinos is generally 6 to 7 feet tall. This gives them a distinct imposing presence when around other races that are shorter than them. Often kreinos will have green, gray, or brown scales. These are the colors that kreinos evolved to take on to help them camouflage and blend into their swampy surroundings. Kreinos have a long tail that extends from just above their but. This tail is used for balance purposes to make sure that he keeps standing upright. Their tail, while not completely mobile, has some degree of mobility and can be used for tripping, grabbing, etc. This tail is generally 3 to 4 feet long and about twice the width of your arm. Kreinos generally weigh in at around 250 pounds, although some have reported seeing kreinos that range up to more than 350 pounds.

Kreinos eyes are a dark red and there scaly body has some fins on the back to help them traverse through water more quickly.

Relations[edit]

Kreinos also tend to hold people at a distance. They are stubborn with their arguments and will never back down even when they know they're wrong. They are distrusting and regard a number of races with disdain, partially because the other races feel the same towards them. It is for these and other reasons that kreinos have very few friends.

Kreinos surprisingly enough tend to get along better with more civilized people than they do the savage races. They are not dumb as many believe and find the other savage races disdainful.

Most creatures, even those in his party the kreinos keeps at a distance from his true self. Although, after adventuring with him for many months and making a distinct effort to befriend him, eventually a kreinos will give in. Once they finally trust you and begin to open up, they are a lot softer than many expect. As for romantic relations, kreinos rarely get involved on this level with others. This sometimes creates a problem and throughout history the kreinos race has come close to extinction a few times. However once a romantic relation is established with a kreinos, they hold onto it steadfast and will never let go of their partner. Kreinos mate for life, and only ever choose one partner, even if they are widowed.

Alignment[edit]

Alignment is a tricky thing to say for a kreinos. They are often at heart neutral. They are not swayed to much by the moral compass. However they also generally maintain a chaotic or neutral evil façade. This is to show their superiority over the others of their kind. To show that they are the toughest and the best of all their peers. However, in stark contrast to this, once a kreinos gets close to somebody, around them and towards them they will generally act neutral or lawful good.

Although remember, these are just generalizations used for playing NPC's. If you are a player, choose your own alignment and only allow this a minor effect on your character choice.

Lands[edit]

Kreinos live generally in swamp like areas, away from any intelligent life. A place where they can be alone. However they do not only reside here to be alone. In many ways these places give them a significant tactical advantage over any kinds of foes. If they are attacked, and their enemies somehow survive the destruction the environment causes unto them, the kreinos will be able to utilize the swamp with deadly efficiency having evolved there.

Kreinos are not often found outside their swamps, but sometimes they can be found elsewhere. They almost never reside in any village or other more dense area, they need privacy and space. However they can be found nearby lakes or oceans, in jungles and forests. Sometimes you may even be able to find one near an oasis in a desert, however this is uncommon.

Religion[edit]

Orion allows for very few true religious practices due to the fact that Orion is the only god, and he has never truly shown himself. Also contributing to this many kreinos tend to be very realism oriented allowing them very little room for the abstract thought processes used to imagine up a pantheon.

However, when kreinos due practice religion it is usually through sacrifices to a god they have named Sho'vune. However kreinos sacrifices are not ordinary in any way. A kreinos sacrifice involves a high ranking member of kreinos society willingly allowing himself to be tortured then put to death. In this way appeasing the gods need for blood and showing that all kreinos are equally frail compared to the gods might.

Language[edit]

Kreinos speak poor common. This is because it is rarely used in their society. They live in almost a separate world from everybody else and have for decades. In this time they have begun to loose the knowledge of the common tongue. They still speak it fluently enough for now, however it is an old form of common and most races will think of them as dumb, or more savage for speaking common so poorly.

Kreinos also speak Draconic which is their most commonly used tongue.

Names[edit]

In kreinos society most kreinos are officially un-named, however most choose their own or make up a nickname for themselves. A kreinos gains his name when he chooses his partner. The name is then bestowed by an elder and both partners are given identical names. Common names chosen mean something in Draconic and are usually based on what the elder thinks will come next for them in their road of life.

When choosing nicknames for themselves a kreison will often be named after a great accomplishment.

Society[edit]

Kreison have a patriarchal society in which the most powerful member rules the others. Shamans offer advice but rarely become leaders themselves. Survival is the up most concern of the kreison and a threatened or starving tribe will go to incredible lengths (even committing deeds considered abominable by other humanoids) to ensure its continued existence.

Kreison society is complex and often does not run how it is supposed to. This is due to the fact that most kreinos choose when they want to abide by the laws of their society and when they don't.

Kreinos are omnivores but greatly prefer meat. Often tribes of kreinos live in small cave shelters or in air pockets under the waters surface. They almost never build residence.

Kreinos society is based a lot around warfare. They spend a great deal of their time forging weaponry and honing in on their combative skills. They often have clubs, axes, and any other number of powerful weapons lying around.
