Shapechanger. The kitsune can use its action to polymorph into a fox-humanoid hybrid or into a Medium fox, or back into its true form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The kitsune has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Innate Spellcasting. The kitsune's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: dancing lights, invisibility, minor illusion, mirror image, misty step
2/day: dominate person

Mimicry. The kitsune can mimic animal sounds and humanoid voices. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful DC 16 Wisdom (Insight) check.

ACTIONS

Multiattack (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). The kitsune makes two attacks, only one of which can be with its bite.

Bite (Fox or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage.

Claws (Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) slashing damage.

Scimitar (True or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) slashing damage.

Charm. One humanoid the kitsune can see within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be magically charmed for 24 hours. The charmed target obeys the kitsune's verbal or telepathic commands. If the target suffers any harm or receives a suicidal command, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success. If the target successfully saves against the effect, or if the effect on it ends, the target is immune to this kitsune's Charm for the next 24 hours. The kitsune can have only one target charmed at a time. If it charms another, the effect on the previous target ends.

Etherealness. The kitsune enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa. It is visible on the Material Plane while it is in the Border Ethereal, and vice versa, yet it can't affect or be affected by anything on the other plane.

Kitsune kami are devious tricksters also known as fox wives or fox spirits they generally enjoy impersonating humans of various ranks either for seduction or tricking merchants. They can pretend to pay merchants a good amount of money only to have the merchants discover that the papyrus money and brass coins they paid are simply stones and leaves. They are also famous for giving food to rude samurai and soldiers only for them to discover that they are eating horse feces at the last minute. They love nothing more than seducing rude warriors and aggressive adventurers only to steal their weapons and loot and then toss their valuable gear into a lake or a pile of pig manure. Lascivious emissaries and performers, bards and so forth are seduced for a night of pleasure only to find themselves completely naked in the morning in a village well or graveyard.
Their true form is that of a humanoid fox with several tails with generally a brilliant red, gold, bronze or pure white mane but sometimes even silver or black is not unheard of. They can fight savagely in their hybrid form with claws and fangs but this is generally a last resort. They would much rather trick and rob rude samurai, warriors and magi.
