Kirbykin Traits[edit]
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Age. Kirbykin mature quickly, reaching adulthood at around 5 years old. They have a lifespan of about 50 years, though they remain childlike in appearance and demeanor throughout their lives.
Alignment. Most Kirbykin are cheerful and good-hearted, tending towards Chaotic Good due to their whimsical nature and love for fun and adventure.
Size. Kirbykin are small, standing between 2 and 3 feet tall and weighing around 30 pounds. Your size is Small.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
Inhale. As an action, you can inhale a creature or item within 5 feet of you. The creature must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, the creature is pulled into your mouth. While the creature is inhaled, it is restrained, blinded, and has total cover against attacks and other effects outside of you. It takes acid damage equal to your Constitution modifier at the start of each of your turns.
Creature Inhaled. The size of the creature you can inhale depends on your level:
- Levels 1-4: Tiny or Small creatures
- Levels 5-8: Medium creatures
- Levels 9-12: Large creatures
- Levels 13-16: Huge creatures
- Levels 17-20: Gargantuan creatures
If you attempt to inhale a creature larger than the allowed size for your level, the creature automatically succeeds on the saving throw.
A creature inhaled remains restrained, blinded, and within your mouth. It can use its action to make a Strength check against your Constitution-based DC. On a success, the creature escapes and enters a space of its choice within 5 feet of you. You can only inhale one creature at a time. If you attempt to inhale a second creature, the first one is expelled.
Item Inhaled. If you inhale an item (other than food), it is absorbed into your Dimensional Stomach, functioning as a limitless storage space. You can retrieve items stored in this way as an action. Additionally, you gain a temporary ability based on the item, subject to DM approval. For example, inhaling a sword might grant you proficiency with martial weapons or a specific combat maneuver like "Dual Wielding". This effect lasts until you take damage, use your Copy Ability trait, or inhale a new item.
Inhaling Food. If you inhale food, you gain hit points equal to 1d4 per character level immediately after inhaling the food.
Copy Ability. When you inhale a creature using your Inhale trait, you can choose to gain one of its traits, actions, or abilities (subject to DM approval). This effect lasts until you take damage or use your Copy Ability trait. You can use this trait again immediately after losing the previous copied ability.
Elastic Body. You can squeeze through spaces as if you were one size smaller, and you have advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to escape grapples and restraints.
Float. As a bonus action, you can inflate your body and gain a flying speed of 20 feet for up to 1 minute. While in float, you cannot use your Inhale or Copy traits, nor can you speak. If you speak during float, you lose the Float trait and must land immediately. When you land, you must move at least 5 feet before you can use Float again.
Restorative Touch. You have a limited ability to heal wounds. As an action, you can touch a creature and restore hit points equal to your level. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Dimensional Stomach. Your stomach functions as a limitless storage space, similar to a Bag of Holding. If you inhale an item (other than food), it is stored in your Dimensional Stomach. You can retrieve items stored in this way as an action.
- The contents of your stomach weigh nothing to you.
- If you are subjected to an effect that causes an extradimensional space to be disrupted (such as the dispel magic spell cast on the space or you being subjected to an antimagic field), you regurgitate the contents immediately.
- If you die, the contents of your stomach are expelled and scatter within a 10-foot radius.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
