King's Wine (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
King's Wine: Also known as the Wine of Monarchs, King's Wine is suited only for those of higher birth. King's Wine is made from specially grown wine grapes and strawberries. Each grape and berry is carefully inspected individually to ensure perfection. If any flaws are found the fruit is sent to be used elsewhere. After inspection, the fruits are carefully washed by hand and sent to be crushed. Once the fruits have been crushed, the are mixed with concentrated honey, mountain spring water, and yeast in large glass containers, it is then covered and left to ferment over night in a magically sealed and temperature controlled room. The next day, the wine is moved in walnut tree wood barrels to continue to ferment for a century in the same room. The painstaking process through which the wine is made only increases its value. Due to the length of time that is required to make a barrel of King's Wine, most vintners never see the wine they started. Their wealth is accrued by selling the wine of their predecessors.
It costs 200 platinum pieces for glass of this wine or 2000 platinum pieces for a bottle. The large elegantly smithed golden, jewel encrusted jugs hold ten glasses worth. The gilded jugs that it is often served in compliments the rich, deep red of this expensive wine.
King's Wine is extremely strong. For this reason, anyone who drinks King's Wine must succeed on a Fortitude save (DC 40) or become fatigued and nauseated.
