Tiefling Subrace[edit]

Your fiendish heritage comes from Jiuling Yuansheng, also known as the Grand Saint of Nine Spirits was the Nine-Headed Lion mount of the god Taiyi Zhenren, who escaped to the mortal realm when the stable boy watching him fall deeply asleep from a potion. He gained the allegiance of a clan of lion demons, who viewed him as their divine ancestor, and caused trouble from his base at the Bamboo Links Mountain until he was taken back to Heaven.

Your skin is covered in yellow to brown fur and you have a leonine mane of fur around your neck. You also have feline traits, such as whiskers, claws, and cat eyes.

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 1.
Legacy of Nine Spirits. You know the thunderclap cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the heroism spell once, and you must finish a long rest to cast it again with this trait. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).
Nine-Headed Roar. Starting at 5th Level, as a bonus action, you can force all creatures of your choice within 30 feet that can hear you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or become frightened by you until the end of your next turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
