A Jaw Trap

Jaw Trap[edit]

CR 3; mechanical; Touch trigger; manual reset; Atk +20 Melee (1d4/×3, Jaws); Search DC 20; Disable Device DC 20. Market Price: see text.

A perfect example of classical cartoon traps, the Jaw Trap is spring loaded mechanism that smashes two pieces of serrated metal together to trap the foot, or limb caught in the trap when a small metal plate gets pressure put on it. There is a 5% chance the limb in the trap will be chomped off (Basically, a natural 1 in a 1d20 roll.) If you get caught in this trap, it takes 1d6 turns to get out of it. The average cost for a Jaw Trap a foot wide is 15 gp, and it does 1d4 damage per turn the person is trapped. A larger variant of this trap is used for severely injuring those who are caught in it. It costs 50 gp, and does 2d8 damage per turn. Both require a Craft(trapmaking) check of 15 to create, and the raw materials cost half of the normal price.
