Ironspines of sufficient age develop spines of deep red (thus earning them the moniker 'red crested'). Only the oldest and fiercest of these creatures develop this shade. The red crested ironspine is a rare sight, as few ironspines grow that old, and few eyewitnesses survive their meeting. They are otherwise Elder Ironspines, as detailed above.

Few of these creatures exist, as true dragons do not tolerate these creatures in their territories. Red crested ironspines fear nothing, not even the largest of true dragons.
