Internecion Cube (5e Race)
Internecion Cube[edit]
"Any innocence or humanity you see in the Origin Cube is a perverse disguise born of the mountains of corpses it has consumed."
RP-focused race
(Creation of Liam Vickers, the animation series regarding this entity has been abandoned for more than two years. With this project, the Internecion Cube can hopefully keep living in the DnD multiverse.)
(It is suggested that you watch the short series before using this homebrew race, in order to have a better understanding of the entity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgNz7ltN-Nk&list=PL3PVzoGiqA64l_Cl1ZjRleWKfSH7I5GSS)
Physical Description[edit]
The Internecion Cube (or Cubes) seems to be an amalgamation of mechanical and biological components. While they look mechanical by nature, they also have the ability to absorb and make biological material to some extent.
They have three known forms as of now:
- Base form - Cubes take on a mechanical humanoid form with thin, spindly arms and twin hair tails with claws that serve as another pair of arms. They have a screen where their face should be, to display emotions.
- Cube form - They are condensed into a small black cube roughly the size of a grapefruit
- Human form - They take on a form very similar to a human being, though it is not perfect, as their appearance is still slightly "uncanny". Their large claws turn into normal twintails.
In all forms they have X-shaped pupils and sharp teeth. In their first two forms, their facial expressions are displayed on a screen.
Also, for some reason, it seems to be an all-female species, as no male individuals have been identified so far.
History[edit]
Internecion Cubes are a mystery to this day. Their origin is a conundrum, and whether their creation was intentional or unintentional is unknown. Nonetheless, this 'species' is considered weapon of mass destruction (WMD) by many due to how dangerous and devious these beings can be.
Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]
Internecion Cubes often stay within close proximity of the respective Administrator, usually out of respect, but sometimes only because they can use this to their advantage. Being a very rare and sparse race, they were unable to develop an actual society. Not that they would have, even if given the chance.
Internecion Cube Names[edit]
There is no real variety in Internecion Cube names, all starting with the prefix "I.C.-", followed by an up-to-three digit code, and ending with a lowercase n (although it isn't unheard of that a Cube might give themself a nickname).
Internecion Cubes' names often tend to spell out a word in leetspeak.
Internecion Cube Traits[edit]
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1 and your Intelligence score increases by 2.
Age. Internecion Cubes don't seem to phisically age, although they seem to grow mentally and emotionally after prolonged contact with other sentient beings.
Alignment. Internecion Cubes tend to be chaotic, often leaning towards evil, although there have been rare exceptions in the past.
Size. All Internecion Cubes have roughly the same height of 5'0/5'2 feet. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. Thanks to advanced photoreceptors and short-range proximity sensors, you can see better than most other races in the dark. You see in dim light as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light with a 60ft range.
Sleep Mode. Instead of sleeping normally, you enter "Sleep Mode", during which you have blindsight within a range of 15ft.
Claws (Base form only). Your twin hair tails end with sharp metallic claws, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you can deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier.
Compact Form. You can transform into your Cube form. Your size is Tiny, you have an AC of 18 (due to your density), your Walking Speed and Flying Speed (if any) drops to 0 and you cannot take any actions except for transforming into your Base or Human form. You can also fit inside a backpack, which allows you to become an "item" inside another character's inventory for up to 6 hours per long rest. When going back to a different form while inside someone's inventory, you appear in a square adjacent to the owner of said inventory.
Definitely-Not-Terrible-Human-Disguise. You can transform into your Human form. Your size is Medium, you have the same AC as your Base form, and you mostly look like a human. However, in this form you lose the ability to use "Claws" and "Sci-Fi Shenanigans" (if unlocked)
Sci-Fi Shenanigans. From level 8, you gain a flight speed of 20ft (hover), with a maximum flight altitude of 15ft.
Run As Administrator. Internecion Cubes can only function at full capacity when under the supervision of an "Administrator", which can be any intelligent being capable of rational thought. You have a -1 modifier to all ability scores and a -2 modifier to rolls if "Admin-less" or while fighting against your Administrator.
Administrator Permissions. Administrators can give basic instructions to their respective Cube starting their sentence with "As Administrator, I...", and although the Cube will thoroughly consider the option, it is not guaranteed that they will follow the order given to them.
Amalgamation&Regeneration. While you can receive healing from spells, it is half as effective due to your mechanical part. However, you regain 1d4 HP every 24 hours. The passive healing increases to 1d4+2 upon reaching level 4, 1d6+2 at level 8 and 1d8+2 at level 12.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
