For a significant portion of your life you've been searching for answers. Perhaps it was your job to solve mysteries as a private detective, or perhaps there was a specific mystery you were chasing, but regardless you've become better at searching for clues and reading people. What answers were you searching for? Did you always find satisfying answers to your questions, or was there one answer that you wish you could forget? Have your inquiries made enemies or friends?

Skill Proficiencies: Investigation, Insight

Tool Proficiencies: Thieves Tools

Languages:One of your choice.

Equipment: Thieves tools, a magnifying glass, a red notebook cataloging the mysteries you've faced or secrets you've uncovered, a bottle of ink, a feather pen, a set of common clothes and a small pouch containing 5gp.

Feature: Elementary Knowledge[edit]

You know where to find people who know things, or people who know people who know things. When you enter a city, you know where to search for information about the happenings in the city. You also never forget the face of people you meet, as you may need them in other cases.

Suggested Characteristics[edit]

Inquirers are very knowledgable about many different subjects, and are good at weaseling information from people. However, this does make them somewhat manipulative, and sometimes pushes people away from them. To inquirers no mystery is too difficult, no challenge too dangerous to stop them from finding the truth, though what they do with the truth is up to them.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I always write down bits of information I think is useful, even if I have to write on my hands and arms when I'm out of parchment.
2 I make a game of speculating what people around me do for a living, and what secrets they are hiding.
3 I never let a mystery remain unsolved.
4 I talk incredibly quickly or incredibly quietly when I am excited, making myself difficult to understand.
5 I try to help people less intelligent than me to understand what I am saying by t-a-l-k-i-n-g s-l-o-w-l-y.
6 I dislike it when people are quick to make judgements, and am not convinced about anything unless hard evidence is shown first.
7 I have a habit of doing something (biting nails, tapping fingers, tracing eyebrows) when I am thinking.
8 I talk only when I think it is absolutely necessary, to conserve energy.
d6 Ideal
1 Law The guards do their job of protecting the law, if my information and answers can help, all the better. (Lawful)
2 Liberation Secrets should never be kept, they should be shared, no matter the consequences. (Chaotic)
3 Money If the gold is right, I'll look into it. (Neutral)
4 Greater Good Everybody would be a lot safer with these mysteries answered. (Good)
5 Power Knowledge is power, and if people want to keep them secret, all the better. (Evil)
6 Knowledge I have to know! (Any)
d6 Bond
1 I had a sidekick who helped me with my investigations.
2 I always solve cases I've been given, always.
3 I have a mystery I have to find the answer to, at all costs.
4 I have one clue from the mystery I never solved, a small trinket.
5 I work closely with the guards, criminals, or urchins in a certain area. They help me in my investigation as long as I help them as well.
6 I am trying to find my lover that one day disappeared without a trace.
d6 Flaw
1 I am suspicious of everyone, seeing people in the worst light when given the chance.
2 I am very bad at talking to people, insulting them without realizing it.
3 I think I am the smartest person that ever lived. No, I know it.
4 In my pursuit of the truth, I sometimes go too far and endanger others.
5 I am a neat freak and have panic attacks when things aren't PERFECT.
6 I have an enemy that I put away in prison by exposing evidence of his villainy. I shudder to think what would happen if he escaped.
