Genetic Disaster
Infestrum take on many forms. They are a result of experimentations with different diseases, including cancer. When the infection is mature, it transforms the host into a monstrosity. The host develops bulbous growths resembling tumors, randomly selecting various parts of the body to replicate. Each Infestrum is different, if you cloned someone and infected both of them, the resulting Infestrums would be varied. One might have another limb, and another might develop abnormal muscles. Of course, other qualities would also develop.
A Product of Mortality
200 years ago, the civilization of the Cudel was flourishing. There was only one thing holding them back: their short lifespans. No matter what they did to maintain their bodies, they would always forcibly decay. In a time of worry, governments turned to scientists to construct a solution. But, their trials never did anything to help. In a desperate attempt due to the decreasing budget, they did a last experiment. They created a disease that would theoretically infect the body and override it’s function to kill itself. But, it went wrong.
The first began in a lab: the disease was used on a small rodent. It was showing promising effects until the rodent seemed to construct cells exponentially fast. It was an abnormal effect, like a rapid cancer. Scientists were unsure of what was happening, so they tried to take the rodent to perform tests. But, it was hungry, and feral. It bit a Cudel scientist, and the Cudel rapidly started having the same symptoms. The outbreak exploded, causing 84 causalities.
Ever since 1831 A.D., Cudel have been tormented by the Infestrum. They have searched for a solution, but the only feasible plan they have is to escape. They cannot destroy all of them, as the Infestrum also quickly took over most military bases, making it hard to find equipment to eradicate them all. They have been searching for help across the stars, quietly observing and locating other alien civilizations.
The Infector
The infection is highly contagious, infecting hosts by putting large amounts of saliva or blood inside of them. It is common for people to be infected by grievous wounds, such as bites or slashes. They infection is also known for making it’s hosts incredibly voracious, strong, fast, and instinctual. They also seem to retain some intelligence, which allows them to set up basic ambushes, but not be able to open basic doors properly. It is important to note that Infestrum are predatory to everything — including other Infestrum.
