Independent Occult Research[edit]
1st level optional Warlock feature
As an independent student of the occult, you decided to postpone your contract with an otherworldly patron for later. At 1st level in this class, instead of choosing your subclass and getting features provided by it, you get the 3rd level feature Pact Boon.
When you reach level 3, instead of choosing a Pact Boon (that you already chose), you choose a subclass and gain all of its 1st level features.
