Ice Genasi (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Ice Genasi[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
History[edit]
The planes of elements are all equally unique. Their domains and powers complement each other in a grand checkmate. However, even in the most volatile and strict circumstances, overlap will occur at some point or another. This is what happened with the ice genasi. The freezing altitudes and blistering winds of the plane of air, combined with the power and flowing nature of the plane of water, met together to form something new. Snow began to fall, it compacted, and continued to freeze. Over and over again. Until eventually, the resulting ice came to life, instilled with the primal life energy that flows through the genasi. The ice genasi are free spirited and strong, viewing rest and leisure as an inconvenience. Their bodies recover quickly, and they are always ready to keep moving. There is always something to be done, and always somewhere to go.

Ice Genasi Traits[edit]
Hybrid children of the elemental planes of Water and Air.
Ability Score Increase. When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. You can't raise any of your scores above 20.
Age. A typical genasi has a life span of 120 years.
Alignment. Independent and self-reliant, genasi tend toward a neutral alignment.
Size. You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this race.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Cryo Stasis. Instead of sleeping, your body enters a stasis for 4 hours a day, in which all bodily functions are diverted to repair. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.
Cold Resistance. You have resistance to cold damage.
Howl of the Blizzard. You know the ray of frost cantrip. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the armor of Agathys spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the Rime's binding ice spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast armor of Agathys or Rime's binding ice with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
