The Time of Gods[edit]

In the beginning, the Gods would come down onto Baronan frequently, often appearing in person to avid worshippers and mighty heroes. They would give mighty boons to people who served good, and punishing evil-doers. It was a time of prosperity.

However, there were some gods that were not satisfied. Gods like Bane, Bhaal and Lovihatar didn't get as much appreciation, as much worship as the other gods. They wanted to show the people that they should fear pain, death and suffering. They teamed up with other gods that shared their ideals and created Demons and Devils. They created them to be powerful, but it quickly got out of hand. The demons and devils became more powerful than their creators. They attacked the world, killing thousands before the gods could even react. There was then a great war between gods and demons. After millenia of fighting, the gods killed the leader of the demons, and scared away the others. Wounded and weakened, the gods went back into their respective planes, never to set foot on Baronan again. In their absence, the demons have started to come out of their hiding places.

The Time of the Fey[edit]

Now, the fey were the most powerful creatures in Baronan, and the archfey would jealously rule over kingdoms. The most powerful of these was Relkath of the infinite branches. He would rule over what came to be called the Magic Isles, using the power of the intersecting ley-lines to fuel his own magic. Turning the central island into a giant, writhing forest, alive with power, and impenetrable to those he didn't wish to enter.

The other archfey didn't like this, so they teamed up in an 'agreament' to stop Relkath getting too powerful. Using their respective powers, they breached through the forest and captured Relkath. Not wanting to be beaten, Relkath let out a mighty wave of energy he'd stored up, severely wounding him and his bretheren. They, like the gods, retreated into their own realms too, leaving only their various offspring, including elves and gnomes.

The Time of Creatures[edit]

After the fey retreated, their was no clear 'leading' race, their was only various races, who vied for control. The elves and other fey offspring, the dwarves and halflings, and the humans, the orcs, and the goblinoids all fought for power over various places of power, especially in the magic isles. Eventually, the fighting slowly died down, and a peace agreement was signed, leading to common being set as the language of civilisation. Some races didn't like this. The orcs went off into Dorga, creating warbands and threatening them. The goblinoids split up, spreading out and creating mischief and mayhem everywhere. Some high-born elves who didnt like it decided to go into the underdark, eventually becoming drow, while others settled in the giant forests of Dystra, creating a society of unwelcoming elves. There were some dwarves who didn't like this either, they too wen't into the underdark, becoming Deugar.

Other Events[edit]

There were some other key events in the history of Baronan

The Dragon War[edit]

In Dorga, there were lots of dragons, hundreds, in fact. The chromatic dragons got angry at the metallic dragons, who were always stopping their plots and revenges, and they launched an attack. They were led by Tiamat, the vengeful and smart dragon queen, who decided not to attack the chromatic dragons directly, but instead to attack Pargo, a country that took up the entire eastern side of dorga. The metallic dragons came to the rescue of this civilisation, and fought against the chromatic dragons, but eventually lost, as they were trying to fight and protect at the same time. In this war, the metallic dragons from Dorga were completely annihilated, and the chromatic dragons reduced to few in number, most of which have been hunted down since, leaving few dragons left on Dorga. The civilisation of Pargo was also entirely destroyed in this, turning it into a wasteland in which the orc war-tribes now occupy.

The Creation of Merfolk[edit]

In Illadia, all of the islands used to be above the ground, and humans used to occupy an entire island of them, but one day, there was a huge magical earthquake, and the entirety of the island sunk into the sea. The humans would have drowned, but the ambient magic of Illadia, the leyline going through the island, and the magic of the earthquake combined, turning these humans into the aquatic race merfolk.
