Hellstriker Scorpion (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Huge monstrosity, unaligned
Armor Class 19 (natural armour)
Saving Throws Str +13, Dex +7, Con +11
Heated Body. A creature that touches the scorpion or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 5 (1d10) fire damage.
Death Throes. When the scorpion dies, it explodes, and each creature within 30 feet of it must make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw, taking 49 (14d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The explosion ignites flammable objects in that area that aren’t being worn or carried, and it destroys the scorpion’s carapace.
Multiattack. The scorpion makes three attacks: two with its claws and one with its sting.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d8 + 7) bludgeoning damage plus 5 (1d10) fire damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 20). The scorpion has two claws, each of which can grapple only one target.
Sting. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 15 ft., one creature. Hit: 20 (3d8 + 7) piercing damage plus 5 (1d10) fire damage, and the target must make a DC 19 Constitution saving throw, taking 44 (8d10) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Hellish Breath (Recharge 5-6). The hellstriker scorpion exhales sulfurous toxins in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 19 Constitution saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) fire damage and 28 (8d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
A hellstriker scorpion is a massive predator with a tough black carapace covered in striking red and orange markings. Hellstriker scorpions are normally found in hot, humid areas, though they naturally produce intense heat, allowing them to survive in very cold regions.
