Heart Burst Spider (4e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Unlike other spiders, the heart burst spider doesn't have venom. It is hermaphrodiphic and its mandibles inject eggs.
Adults are spiders with a weak dark green hide, three sets of mandibles and almost no intelligence. Juveniles are smaller versions of the adults.
Encounters[edit]
When encountered these creatures do not work together trying to kill or infect the party. They attack en masse trying to overwhelm their prey.
- Level 3 Encounter (825 XP)
- 2 Pseudonatural Heart Burst Spiders (Level 3 Elite Brute, 300 XP each)
- 6 Heart Burst Spiderlings (Level 3 Minion Lurker, 38 XP each)
Terrain: The cave has many stalagmites that obstruct one square. There is also an erratic portal in the centre of the cave. When a creature ends its move on an erratic portal square, it makes an immediate saving throw. On a save, that creature can teleport up to 5 squares per tier as a free action. On a failed saving throw, the creature can teleport up to 2 squares per tier as a free action, and it takes 10 lightning damage per tier. If the creature chooses not to teleport, it still takes the lightning damage.
Heart Burst Spiderling[edit]
|
Spiderlings lurk in shadowy corners until one can charge at the party. When one charges, they will all do so regardless of the invervening terrain. |
Pseudonatural Heart Burst Spider[edit]
|
The first heart burst spider eggs appeared near strange, small dimensional anomalies. As the spiders proliferated with the presence of living creatures, some inherited the qualities of that other realm. On reaching adulthood, these brutish spiders blossom with tentacles. The pads on each tentacle cause internal bleeding in their victims. |
