Halos[edit]

Orgin[edit]

Beginning as a combined effort to bring the world to peace, this high tech device was designed and produced on a massive scale for years. By the time it was released, there was a copy for every man, woman, and child that was a recognized citizen of the country. Within the next few years, almost every other major country adopted the Halos. The Halo was designed to be a life saving system which floated above the citizen’s head and read vitals, read brain signals, and, after an incredible breakthrough by a man named Dr. Ensenburg, learn. Each Halo can learn about it’s owner and develop a personality to fit its owner for the sake of their enjoyment and comfort. The Halo can contact law enforcement, help with first aid, detect harmful gases in the air, and was later programmed with a system connecting it to the internet. With this ability, it acts like an augmented reality headset, displaying webpages and giving advice on questions and problems based on articles on the internet and its personal knowledge of its owner.

Halos in Society[edit]

After a decade of use, Halos were given to babies. Men and women grew up with their Halo, the angel on their shoulder. Crime went down, education went up. A Halo is not a symbol of wealth because everyone has one. Almost everyone. The men and women that are not recognized by their country as a citizen did not recieve a Halo. After a fear of these people from the governments supporting and utilizing Halos grew, a patch was remotely and silently added to Halos that would automatically contact law enforcement if a man or woman who was not a recognized citizen was seen.

Description[edit]

Halos are white plastic-looking rings with a very clean, smooth look. The Heads Up Display that appears can be seen by others, but it is right around the owner's face, so others cannot see what is being displayed. Halos have rectangular vents which open up and release gases (with an adjustable temperature and speed so no one would be uncomfortable) that allowed it to hover just above it's owner's head. Halos will always return to their owner if they fall off, and if they are unable to reach their owner, the Halo will attempt to contact the owner's contacts, and then emergency contacts. If that does not work, the Halo will contact law enforcement. You can't leave a Halo behind. It turns on when you wake up and charges wirelessly when you go to sleep. It's internal battery can last two months of full use, and it can wirelessly charge from other nearby charging stands for Halos, which are nearly everywhere by now. Halos are insulated from outside electric charges, and the ports are covered with almost seamless panels, making it water proof. It can resist intense flame and even handle bullets because of it's compact shell. Because it's always with you, under aged drinking, drugs, and sexual activity is almost unheard of. It's really incredible what the designers were able to pack into such a small ring.

Use[edit]

Halos have the ability to learn and gain a personality, and can be considered sentient NPCs. They don't fall for the 0/0 trick. They can learn their owner's lingo and their personality, and can become the equivalent of a best friend for their owner. Of course, giving social advice is only the tip of the iceberg. You can ask your Halo almost any question, and it will search hundreds of pages to find reliable answers to your question, all in the span of a few seconds of loading. Halos are completely customizable. You can change the color from it's normal white plastic look, have it print custom or downloaded decals onto it's exterior, and even have it learn your morning routine.

It can get you out of bed, remind you of the activities while you drink the coffee it made when you were taking a shower. Then, while you get in the car, it reminds you that you left your house key in the kitchen. The Halo is like a friend that's always there. It helps you make logical choices, develops a system of education tailored to your learning style when you don't understand something in school, and gives advice on your social life based on psychology and its communication with other Halos. This kind of advice is given with precaution and suggestion instead of giving secrets that it feels you don't need to know.
