Half-Oni[edit]

When hunting all throughout the night, You must beware the Oni’s might. But if you’re hunting in the dawn, Do not forget the Oni’s spawn! -Beetle Legaru, Goblin bard.

Physical Description[edit]

Half-Oni’s appearance resembles that of their other race during the day, potentially with minor oni-like features. (Glowing eyes, short horns, sharp teeth, etc) During the night, however, they take on a monstrous form. Large, with blueish skin, clawed hands, sharp teeth, and ivory horns, it’s enough to scare any adventurer silly.

History[edit]

To find a half-oni is about as difficult as finding a wish spell. Very, very difficult. To put it simply, in the entirety of the forgotten realms there are likely no ore than three of these creatures in existence. Thus, they have no real history outside of rare tales told by bards in the dead of night.

Transformation[edit]

A half oni can bear any alignment during the day, behaving and acting like they would if they weren’t part undead monster. When the sun falls below the horizon, however, every half-oni is cursed to transform, becoming monstrous and deadly. Some hide their curse, hiding themselves away in remote locations and containing themselves for the night. Others embrace it, feeding on the flesh of the living and using their less-monstrous day forms to gain the trust of those around them. One thing is certain, however: all Half-Oni crave the flesh of the living, especially that of the young.

Half-Oni Names[edit]

Half Oni use the names of their other race, as the Oni parent typically leaves them immediately after birth.
