More information...

Half-dragon creatures are always more formidable than others of their kind that do not have dragon blood, and their appearance betrays their nature—scales, elongated features, reptilian eyes, and exaggerated teeth and claws. Sometimes they have wings.

Creating a Half-Dragon[edit]

“Half-dragon” is an inherited template that can be added to any living, corporeal creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature).

A half-dragon uses all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Size and Type[edit]

Size and Type: The creature’s type changes to Dragon, and it gains the augmented subtype. Do not recalculate Hit Dice, base attack bonus, or saves. It also gains any subtypes of the dragon parent.

Speed[edit]

A half-dragon gains one movement mode of its dragon parent, based on its land speed. (fly speed = double base land speed with average maneuverability, swim or climb speed = base land speed, burrow speed = half base land speed).

Armor Class[edit]

Natural armor improves by +5.

Attack[edit]

A half-dragon gains natural weapons as a true dragon of its size category. If it already has a natural weapon of one of the types gained use whichever is better.

Special Attacks[edit]

A half-dragon retains all the special attacks of the base creature and gains one breath weapon of its dragon parent. The area of its breath weapon is determined based on the base creature's size as for true dragons. If the breath weapon deals damage the damage is 1d6 per character level. In all other respects the breath weapon functions like that of its dragon parent (usable once per 1d4 rounds, Con-based DC, etc.).

Special Qualities[edit]

A half-dragon has all the special qualities of the base creature, plus darkvision out to 120 feet, superior low-light vision (4x) and blindsense 60ft. A half-dragon has immunity to sleep and paralysis effects. For numerical effects based on age category (such as duration of non-damaging breath weapons) an ECL 1 half-dragon PC is considered a wyrmling, increasing by one age category at every odd level (due to the level adjustment, PC half-dragons are at least Very Young). DM-controlled half-dragons substitute their CR for their ECL. A half-dragon gains sorcerer as an additional favoured class, and his caster level for sorcerer spells is increased by 3 (this does not grant additional spells per day or spells known).

Abilities[edit]

Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +8, Con +4, Int +4, Wis +4, Cha +4.

Environment[edit]

Same as either the base creature or the dragon variety.

Challenge Rating[edit]

Same as the base creature +2.

Alignment[edit]

Same as the dragon variety.

Level Adjustment[edit]

Same as base creature +3.
